These last few weeks, I’ve been hearing so much about Comeback Kid’s Wake The Dead and Paint It Black’s Paradise. Kids on the internet, and even my friends, were raving about how raw, intense, and powerful these two new records were. So, I went out and got both. I’ve enjoyed them, each calling on different types of punk/hardcore, and both delivering quite a bit of intensity. Still, when I listen to these records, there is something left to be desired. To me, they are too straightforward, and dance around the possibilities to create something truly amazing. Listening to these records only makes me yearn for something more and only one record, as of late, can fill that void.

Thanks Silent Storms. Good review, but hey Chinatown, where did that label evaluation come from? I don't think it was necessary, unless you stated that you simply LIKE the label more. Eh, whatever. The songs I d/w were good - but certainly not better than Paint It Black's. Fiya isn't nearly as explosive or identifiable as them, and their vocalist is no match for the doc. Jade Tree is simply a superior label to No Idea. Good god. So amazing. These guys are a touch sloppy but fun live, they were alright opening for Against Me!, better when they opened for the Wrangler Brutes. Having seen them a couple times opening for other bands I'd probably go see them on their own now. this album rules, and they were even better when i saw them open for AM! in gainesville definitely weird to see this here, of all places. "FIYAH". Teriffic album, decent review. I can't wait for their No Idea debut, supposedly coming out next month. The two songs from it on their website are strange at first but get better when you listen more. Good stuff. Reminds me a little of Bear vs. Shark. I noticed no one had reviewed this a while ago and thought "i should do it." not bad. i'll check em out. So is this pronounced as in "Giiiirl, you on FIYAH" or "Fee-ya" or some other variation? Yes! 2004's best punk album, from one of the greatest up and coming labels, run by one of the coolest guys in punk! Get this record! The singer's voice reminds me a bit of Rick Froberg. confession sounds pretty good. anyone got a link to their website? |
