Four years. 48 months. 1461 days. 35,064 hours. 2,103,840 minutes. 126,230,400 seconds. That is very roughly how long it has been since Bane destroyed the scene with their powerful anthems and an unmatched energy and knowledge of what hardcore is. In that short 126,230,400 seconds, the scene has seen a huge change. Metalcore bands populate the earth and their legions of fans don make-up and wear pants too short for them in an effort to fit into a scene almost as ridiculous as their get-up. Those of us that felt the scene was dying have seen a turnaround in the past couple years, and the second coming has now arrived. The new Bane album The Note has arrived to bring the world to its knees in a blast of feverish energy.

yeah, this singer's vocals suck. great album. best songs are "pot commited" "wasted on the young" and "swan song", in my opinion. i could rant and rave about this bands honesty, morals and power, but i don't feel like it. definetly get the CD for the artwork and lyrics. i gave it an 8 because a couple songs feel rushed for the sake of having a full length CD. and the sound quality isn't the best. when i need a good laugh i listen to bane, the lead singers vocals are terrible, the worst i've ever heard, score for the humor that this band provides for me dude LAID TO WASTE u are lookinf for the wrong thing buddy y are you gonna compare two completly diffrent bands u dipshit! you like the charriots constent screaching quitar every 2 seconds then leave that shit to yourself first, laid to waste, you're a moron. laidtowaste, you should kill yourself. the vocals suck. i listen to it every now and then because it makes me laugh.this isn't hardcore, its punk rock with some dude trying to scream. their is nothing hard about bane. THANK GOD FOR THE CHARIOT! the underproduction killed this recrod. god if they would have just turned up the damn guitars it would have solved 2/3 of this record's problems... Good album, but I can't help but wonder what it would have sounded like if it had the same production quality as "Give Blood". The mix on that album was close to perfect. So many opinions, so many people have to judge, not just for the music either. I was just listening to 'Give Blood' and realized that I really like Comeback Kid a lot more than Bane. yeah most ShortBox commercials are lame and look to have been put together by high schoolers..... like the fruitbooters in the video That Bane "commercial" would of been far more effective had it actually been funny. Who's handling the System Of A Down review? I'll do it if you make me staff. I was just listening to 'Give Blood' and realized that I really like Comeback Kid a lot more than Bane. score is for the guy who mentioned ATM a few posts down. hahaha. and for mentioning it in the same sentence as someones mother hahahahha. Yeah. Bane has good stuff to say, great live show...but this album is boring. Except for a few tracks, this is just boring. At least it's not like With Honor's last full length, with gang vocals every other word. bought it and its bores the shit out of me Eeeeek. Watch out guys. The guy also gave the new Atreyu and Audioslave albums 4 and 5 stars each. I still don't get why their guitarist is sponsored by Atticus. Eeeeek. Watch out guys. The guy also gave the new Atreyu and Audioslave albums 4 and 5 stars each. Score is for LIFETIME. Oh and Adam/Aubin/Brian, if the my post was a problem or conflict of interest, which I can see it being, I'm not going to raise a stink over it being deleted. Erik Bedard > This Bedard "Because I love being off topic, who wants to give me their Soulseek name so I can steal from them." Because I love being off topic, who wants to give me their Soulseek name so I can steal from them. I don't have the internet on my own computer yet, and seeing only about 110 songs on my playlist on this computer makes me want to cry. i love this album. it may not be their absolute best, but its still Bane and it rocks "Not really. For someone to be a great songwriter do they have to do shitty folk-rock or alt. pop?" Isn't it funny that Mike Adams lost his closer spot to a guy who used banned substances (steroids) when he was still in college? Go Derek Turnbow. //i wanted this to be the best fucking cd ever it's good, but it wasn't as good as i had hopes // "I don’t think I am going out on a limb to call Bedard one of the more creative songwriters of our generation..." The mp3's had me a little worried at first, as they didn't jump out at me like the precious Give Blood did. But when I got ahold of the cd and the lyric sheet...hot damn! The production blows a little, but I think Bedards lyrics are some of the best that he has ever penned. Fucking great. Good review too... "I don’t think I am going out on a limb to call Bedard one of the more creative songwriters of our generation..." "I don’t think I am going out on a limb to call Bedard one of the more creative songwriters of our generation..." "My comment wasn't meant to imply that bane encourage the practice. My comment was in reference to the fact that the kids who do stage dive feet first are usually into bands such as bane, champion etc. No disrespect to Bane, cool to know that they are attempting to discourage kids from doing this." for people complaining about stage diving and such (or just generally saying you don't like it)... that is a given... NO ONE likes to be stepped on... So the best solution I have came up with (over the years) has been to steal their shoes and throw them in different directions... "that said, it's a good cd, but their weakest as well" "Funny you say that, since when I just saw Bane Aaron stopped and talked to everyone in San Fran about not doing things like diving feet first, and about stamping out the violence in hardcore. I wonder why you assumed this was FFSDHC? (my new favorite acronym)" This album sounds like what's equivalent to refined b-sides of Give Blood and slower to boot. Only 10 songs and it has been 3 1/2 years since their last release. The subject material is basically the same as Give Blood. Too many songs about the scene. What Keeps Us Here on this record has the same lyrical message as Speechless from Give Blood. It is not a bad record, but it certainly is not great. It is their worst album where as It All Comes Down To This is their best. I think they could have done a way better job. What a let down. "Speaking of Paint it Black, they would be awesome if they got that guy from None More Black to sing for them. It would change the world" "pot committed" rocks. Speaking of Paint it Black, they would be awesome if they got that guy from None More Black to sing for them. It would change the world. "Score is for the M.O.P./Roc-a-fella saga" i wanted this to be the best fucking cd ever Bane can lick my fucking balls. That's right, I said "lick my balls." cursed are AWESOME! its the melodic direction that the new paint it black cd went in that makes it so good. this does the melody thing sometimes as well, but its more straight up and in your face. plus, dans voice really grew on me. "Uh, Chinatown, ever heard a song called "Ante Up"? "Decent, i'm not usually into "feet first stage dive" hardcore," Giving an album an eight is the new giving an album a ten. "Decent, i'm not usually into "feet first stage dive" hardcore, but this is pretty good. II have to be in the mood for this, usually i'll just listen to aus rotten or nausea" this album is horrible i listened to it 3 times straight through and will never....ever listen to it again. absolute trash. bane kicks ass of all hardcore bands around! so GOOD!!!!!!!!!! Bedard is the man!!!! Huston Street gets his shot to become a superstar closer. Hype or hope? I can't speak about Cursed, since I haven't heard their CD, but Paradise doesn't even touch the Note, in my opinion. Then again, I am a huge fan of Bane, so take that as you will. I think this is the best Bane record. I think it's a perfect progression from Give Blood. Most people seem to think that Give Blood sucks, but it was my favorite until I heard The Note. Decent, i'm not usually into "feet first stage dive" hardcore, but this is pretty good. II have to be in the mood for this, usually i'll just listen to aus rotten or nausea. So far this has been the 3rd best hardcore record of the year. the new paint it black cd is not nearly as good. i was pretty let down by it. i think i really WANTED to like paint it black, considering that lifetime is my fav band every and kid dynamite is up there, but they're nothing more than "pretty good". its good, but the paint it black cd is better. i also prefer the comeback kid cd, but thats just me. Yeah whatever. I have something like 1500 hardcore punk recordings on various formats spanning 25 years, and have never heard a single song by this band. From your description, I don't really want to either. Yeah whatever. I have something like 1500 hardcore punk recordings on various formats spanning 25 years, and have never heard a single song by this band. From your description, I don't really want to either. A lot of ppl hate on this band simpl;y because theyr're one f those bands that's become cool to like. Despite that fact, I love this album. It's not as good as GIVE BLOOD, but it's still a fun solid hardcore album. Most haters just diss on Bane because they pull in hundreds of people to their shows. You're all wrong... You're all wrong... "Give Blood" is merely a mediocre follow-up to "Holding This Moment", which is much more just straight hardcore, less breakdowns, and better lyrics. Yeah whatever. I have something like 1500 hardcore punk recordings on various formats spanning 25 years, and have never heard a single song by this band. From your description, I don't really want to either. I can't wait to see Bane again...June can't come soon enough. great album. can't wait to see them again next month. I must say that if you're a Bane fan, you could have a complete wardrobe. They have shirts in every color imaginable, yet with all the same design. Very clever. More important: I just returned from the new Star Wars and it was really, really good. On par with the best of the first trilogy. Its a great song, the bridge in it is really cool but it leads to a sorta generic break-down. However, all the elements thrown together make a great track. Yeah, that's the one that begins with all of that frantic drumming. I dunno, I haven't listened to it in a few years, and can't really remember the chorus. That's usually not a good sign. Uh, Chinatown, ever heard a song called "Ante Up"? Oh man, PEI. I went to Rainbow Valley a long time ago. I bought a shirt that displayed a bungee-jumping shark wearing sunglasses. Give Blood was a good album, but nothing too memorable. Out of the 10 tracks, at least 3 of them were pure filler ("What Holds Us Down" being the most generic). Bane have only written one truly amazing song in their career: "Ali V.S. Frazier I." Actually, I'm an idiot. I just noticed I was reading the link. Let the flaming of PEI local begin. I didn't read the review yet, but I noticed the reviewer's username is BANE!! This guy is obviously a huge Bane fan, so I think that makes this review a little skeptical. I like it when reviewers aren't obviously huge fans. That way, they will likely be more critical of an album. Sure, some huge fans will be still critical. But I know if I reviewed a propagandhi album, I would probably give it more praise than it deserves, just because they are one of my favorite bands. What I don't like about this review is that it uses Bane as a sounding board for a diatribe against the rest of hardcore music. hasn't left my cd player all week. fantastic record. yeah, it's true, there will never be another give blood, but this is certainly a worthy follow up. I'm lovin' this album. IT's because the production sounds like Bane's attack was laden down in a swamp. Aaron Baneface is scary looking.... These guys should give up. Terrible. I've never been *huge* on Bane, but I thought they were improving from one effort to the next. I think this might be where it stops for me. The last half blows by in no time and I always forget I actually have it on. Anybody seeing these guys the 29th In Syracuse? It's the Promises' last show ever, and it's going to be fucking incredible. This will definately make my top 10 for the year. |
