Ok, I'm not going to lie. I didn't really know what to expect when I ordered this album from Kung-Fu a while back. I'd heard the song 'Freegan' on the Fat Wreck comp 'Short Music for Short People' and kind of liked the hard and fast approach to the music, and the way the singer kind of spits out his lyrics, so I bought the album.

To give you an idea of how good this album actually is, I copied it onto a tape for my car about a year ago. And since then, it's been one of those tapes that just keeps getting put back in. Maybe it's just a great album to drive to...

It's very hard to put this album into a genre. Possibly because it transcends so many. It has all the catchy hooks you need to sing-a-long, as well as being hard and aggresive. Kind of like pop-punk-hardcore I guess :)

The musician ship is good, with lots of beefy metal-riffs, and some rapid drumming-- a good combination for plenty of pit action. The lyrics are great, both witty and thought provoking, they prove neither too deep, or too shallow.

For me, the highlights of the album have to be the tracks 'Flavor Ice' and 'Boardumb' - these are the ones that really get me going. There's a lot of people who like the song 'Friends' - a mid paced number that really rocks, and the song '13' has one of my favourite lines ever written - "I'd ratter be happy and poor, Than have it and still want more".

Just get the album, OK? You'll like it...

I used to really like this CD. 12 years later and I remember I want to delete it from my ipod every time it pops up on random.

Good CD and well worth listening to. I also bought it because I heard "freegan" on short music. I also bought an agnostic front album because of short music, baaaad choice.

This CD is most likely the hardest thing I have in my musical library. Yeah, I'm a little wuss, but this CD is great.

All Bigwig's stuff smokes, and this album is no different. If you don't have any of their albums, do yourself a favour and pick up UnMerry Melodies and Stay Asleep. And while you are waiting for the new album, go pick up the Fearless comp. Punk Goes Metal and listen to the awesome Slayer cover they do!
Oh, and about the heat between 'wig and Propagandhi... I'm interetsted if there is anything behind the similar sounding outros too, so if anyone knows anything put it here!

can someone tell me the deal with the rivalry/hostility between bigwig and propagandhi?

All i know is that Tom pulled a "mangina" on stage a couple of years back.

This cd isn't quite as raw as UnMerry Melodies, but it definatley kicks ass.
    "Dent", "Falling Down", and "Numbers".
Can't wait for their new cd.

This is a great album, every track tears it up. These guys are great live as well, they also are an unrecognized punk band and a bunch of cool guys.

They also have a new album coming out this month called "Invitation to Tragedy" on August 21st on Fearless Records. Hopefully they will go on a full US tour after it is released...

Go get this album as well as "Merry Melodies" also on Fearless, these two albums are a great investment.

Hey, Bigwig just keeps getting better and better. Just saw them tonight at Warped in Asbury. Amazing. Same goes for the new songs I've heard. I was at that show in December. Definitly the best Bigwig show i've been to. If you haven't heard them, go buy the cd. If you have, get the new cd later this month. Bigwig f'kin rocks. - Jack

BigWig is a great recorded band but to really appreciate them you gotta see 'em live..on their home coming show from tour last december they played a 2 hour set, literally they played every song from both albums (including Friends which I'd never seen them play) and a bunch ofcovers and a bunch of stuff that'll come out on the new record (the new stuff is just phenomenal). Good shit my friends.
