Dead Letter Dept (formerly the Stiffs) are a Canadian band with a helluva debut EP. I like to describe their sound as a "pop-punk with balls", or maybe "punk smacking pop in the teeth". Whatever you call them ,it doesn't change the fact that they rock. 5 fast, pop-punk songs with some hilarious titles, well-written lyrics, a cool voice, and excellent musicianship, all produced by the man himself, Mr. Mass Giorgini. What else could you possible want? My favorite song is "I'll never get to go space...so fuck the world". It's catchy as hell and has an infectuos lead guitar part. They don't sound like Blink or Weasel, but instead have a pop-punk sound all their own. If I were you, I'd head on over to www.ductape.org and get this gem before Dead Letter Dept. huge.

These guys come here to Ohio/KY every summer and play about a weeks worth of shows for about 3 years now. Always a blast. Fun guys, great album, helluva live show. too bad they're canucks eh? i knew these guys when they were "against the grain"... keep up the good work i guess.... You're doing what you guys said your dream always was. i havent heard this yet cuz i didnt have enough money but my band just opened for these guys and they were awesome. great stage presence. the lead guitar part on fuck the world is completely ripped off from original closet monster member rudy's riff in "soup and crackers", which was completely ripped off from the campy radioactive man scene in the r-a man movie simpsons episode. oops.....with the previou spost i made a mistake in my "star" rating! being from the toronto area, i have had the pleasure of watching these boys grow from their days as "the stiffs" to where they are now. Dead Letter Dept. rock!......this band puts everything they have into their live show, its fast, loud, and exciting. Then there is the E.P. , The songs are tight, and like others have said before me, this band has created a pop punk style all their own. Check them out! DLD are definitely a really great pop-punk band, i seen these guys in my home town 2 weeks ago, and they rocked the park they played at. so support these guys, i know i do. |
