Thirteen StepsThis Is The Reality That We Confront (2005)International News Reviewer Rating: Contributed by: nevin (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on August 9th 2005
This Is The Reality That We Confront is the first full-length from Korean hardcore heavyweights 13 Steps. Since 2000, they have been gaining a solid (and rowdy) following by releasing a steady stream of demos, splits and tracks on comps. 13 Steps rank among the best of Korea’s hardcore bands, and unlike some of the other bands in the scene they have a loyal following that can always be counted on to pack their shows. Recently those same crowds have been demanding more and more forcefully that 13 Steps deliver up a full-length, and deliver they did!

this is actually really fucking good. interesting too drug use carries harsher penalties over there (it is punishable by death in Singapore, probably in other countries too), but use is still pretty common. plus I think they drink a lot. This is no-doubt at least entertaining, but I find Asian sXe bands kind of funny... Are drugs even something they worry about? Aren't their countries tougher on drugs than anywhere else in the world? It's not exactly some bold statement, it's just more emulation of American culture. Which is okay, I guess, because currently American "hardcore" is aping Swedish metal waaaay too much. Weird, my friend just got me this while he was over in Korea. If it was American, I definately would not listen to it. Granted, it being foreign doesn't make up for its flaws, but it's okay at best. | Features
