The Living End are easily one of Australia's greatest punk bands ever. However, they aren't too big in the U.S.A. Sure, they have a few songs hit the radio every once in a while and maybe a commerical or two (that's where I first heard of them), but overall, they are fairly unkown. I feel sorry for those who haven't experienced them yet.

perfect cd I loved it i was listening it 24/7 I don't really know how people can compare The Living End to the majority of the punk bands on this site. The best thing about them is they have created their own sound, you can tell a living end song straight away. I've seen them live and they are amongst the most talented bands you could ever see. Chris dominates the guitar and vocals. This album is their best. Monday, Save the Day, and Second Solution are the songs that stand out for me. All you americans should get into them! Don't be ignorant and bag aussie music when you probably haven't heard any. And they don't sound a thing like Fall Out Boy. "But then the oldschool psychos say it was Tiger Army" " But then the oldschool psychos say it was Tiger Army." I hate this style of music. Deal with it. Thanks! What the fuck is up with this total lack of knowledge about psychobilly? Everyone acts like the Horrorpops invented it. But then the oldschool psychos say it was Tiger Army. Now, I'm not one to say who did it, but fuck, this stuff has been developing forever. Look to the 80s with Stray Cats. And more importantly, NO ONE ever mentions The Reverend Horton Heat? WTF? All these new bands would kiss his ass hardcore given the chance. how can you compare TLE to Simple Plan or Fall Out Boy?! first off, TLE is actually talented... chris & scott can actually sing, and you know what? they are all REAL musicians, they can ACTUALLY PLAY MUSIC! i've been a fan of them 8 years now... if they're drawing comparisons, it should be more to the clash and rev. horton heat mixed together... not those two cheesetastic bands... geez... moving on... TLE is an awesome band... this album is awesome and so are all their other ones.... Great album. Monday and trapped rule!! i can garuntee "Australians want nothing to do with this band. They're the Australian equivalent to Simple Plan." is not the case, this guys just an idiot. The Room >>> Jesus Of Suburbia I don't know, it's not surprising. They're helluv poppy, they've been on a major for years, and they're a much bigger band there than they are here. I still think they rock, but I understand why he doesn't. Australians want nothing to do with this band. They're the Australian equivalent to Simple Plan. You had better include the biscuits and mashed potatoes in your KFC review Thank You SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE LIVING END AND FALL OUT BOY! "How can you say that this doesn't sound like Fall Out Boy? The first two songs are the same style of song of anything FOB has done, you could put them in the middle of any FOB and I wouldn't second guess it. " trav was with them from this album ok, off the topic of the living end for a couple of seconds, i was browsing purevolume.com, and i discovered the shittiest band in the history of music... People who compare Living End to FOB make me absolutely hate this site. Great album, not too good of a review though. Trav aint on the drums anymore. This score is for the review. Pretty useless as a review, but useful to build a resume to join their US street team. People've already mentioned why ("easily one of the best albums ever"), but let me add one more. On this site, a band who's toured opening for Green Day, headlined over Flogging Molly, played Warped (on the main stage, if I remember right), had songs in tv commercials, and had songs in major motion pictures, is NOT "fairly unknown." If this was People Magazine dot com, fine. Even dinosaur rags like Rolling Stone love this band. IMO, the albums go like this: Wait, how have people not heard of this band? They toured with the frigging Offspring when I was in High School. I saw them at warped tour twice. I figured they kept putting out albums after that, right? "The first two songs are the same style of song of anything FOB has done" The guy is a good guitar player but a lot of the songs are waaaaay too long. This is not a 5 star album. I really love the Living End, but I've never heard this entire album. A perfect score seems questionable though. I'm not saying you are wrong, because I haven't heard it all, but Roll On was a phenomenal album. Is it better than that? Please tell me yes and I will buy a copy immeadiately. i saw these guys back in 98 when this great record came out and they totally ruled This review was pretty good, but here's how I would make it better: this album is awful Wow, I'm suprised this got this good of response. It seems there's always a few people who post "I've never heard of them so they blow" posts. But not here. maybe someone already posted on this I like this band, but they are a band that you can really burn out on quickly. The CD I have is a bit too flashy at times; it got boring after too many listens. Oh well. To the guy who said this sounds like Fall Out Boy: I hate your existance. ha ha you paid money to see fall out boy "The Living End are a three-piece with Chris being simply amazing on the guitar, Scotty playing (and doing cool tricks) on his standup bass, and Trav hitting the drums." these bands need to stop making everything in flash and hire some programmers that actually know what their doing. believe it or not, html does still exist. thier site totally blows. nothing will load. oops, wrong album review for the comment 2 down, The Living End is amazing. their latest was pretty damn overpolished, and the band's edge was considerably rounded (parts that would normally be gang vocals became chris multitracked) and some of the songs relied less on guitar hooks and more on pop melody hooks, but it was a good album nonetheless. the room might be the best song of their career. what the hell are you talking about? this band was around way before fall out boy. by the way, fall out boy = worst live band ever! How can you say that this doesn't sound like Fall Out Boy? The first two songs are the same style of song of anything FOB has done, you could put them in the middle of any FOB and I wouldn't second guess it. After the intermission the album is a lot better, much more inventive and different. The last song reminds me much more of Gatsby's American Dream than FOB. This is one of my top 5 favorite albums. They're awesome (in the true sense of the word) live, such great energy and they're all really friendly guys. I'm really suprised people like this band. I thought their latest effort "Modern Artillery (sp?)" kinda sucked but their other releases have been fucking spot on. Didn't Chris get in some sort of auto accident awhile back? Great album none the less. This is one of the best records of the 90's!! I love this album, and I think it probably is their most solid release. "wow, suprised by all the love for these guys here, i thought they'd be hated" For the best book on the Ramones read, Id rather listen to The Living End by Hüsker Dü. wow, suprised by all the love for these guys here, i thought they'd be hated. Roll On was pretty sweet. I guess I should listen to this one. I love this album, but what's with this reviewer? I totally agree with Modern Artillery having to grow on you. I was really disappointed with it at first but I really love it for what it is now. Hold Up and The Room are especially incredible. I can't believe, that in retrospect, that "Prisoner of Society" was a big radio hit when it was out. The song is too good and too fast for mainstream radio. And this was back in 1998 too! The concept of the Monday song sounds a whole lot like the original Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays": http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=38484 Fucking solid album, all the way through. All of the Living End's albums are excellent. I still prefer Roll On to this, but all their albums are solid. Can't wait for the new one. Incredibly underrated band, still hasn't gotten the credit they deserve here in America. roll on is a great song.... i seriously doubt they had never heard punk rock before. I heard this band on a commerical for the X Games a few years ago. I kept messing up the lyrics so I never realized who it was. Then after a year of searching I found it on the Van Wilder DVD which had previews of songs in the movie. Now I really like this band. The song was Roll On. Probably my favorite one by them. Also check out " It's for Your Own Good" Not my favorite of theirs, but a pretty solid album from front to back regardless. I could spend all my time talking about this band. this is a fucking sweet record. FUCKING SWEET. Amazing band, can't wait for the new record. Trapped (Trapt?) is an awesome song, gotta love the ska-flavour. Used to rock that song many times, I also really like the song "Hold-up" (solo anyone?) from Modern Artillery. I dont know what happened to the Living End. But this album, damn. Dude can shred. |
