This album, the cryptically titled Production Thru Destruction, is the first album by early `90s Minneapolis band Misery. Misery is one of the bands that shaped the modern crust sound, along with their better-known NYC counterparts, Nausea. The LP was released on Profane Existence in 1992, but the CD was reissued this past year.

I also used to see Misery with Al singing and it was better then, IMHO. I really dont like their new stuff as much. Its too harsh for my taste http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crust_punk umm crustilicious, will isn't intolerant. he's just being open minded to things that are worthy of his approval under his guidelines of what's considered "true art." Uhhh.. actually, I'm gonna go against Will on this. I like ska. I like a lot of pop-punk, and I like Elvis Costello-type stuff. The whole point of being a liberal or an anarchist or whatever is to have an open mind, and to be tolerant, if not accepting. Intolerance is what got humanity "here" in the first place, so let's just stop being music snobs until someone says they like crust and the Black Eyed Peas. Oh, and the third "e" in "feeeding5000" was originally a typo, but I left it in after using it on a couple MBs. (Its a Crass reference) When did I say that? Will is making the assumption that a little pop influences in music is automatically bad. I fail to see what is so bad about it. How come you review this, but not Skarp's Requiem. That LP is a fucking MONSTER. Oioioioioioioioioi So anything that's no instantly palatable isn't "music." This is like saying abstract paintings are merely "art." Don't worry, it is just flaming. Crooked Superhero, listen to yourself for a moment.... It's NOISE. No-one enjoys, but they sure like pretending they do. That's bullshit... Are you kidding me? Yeah well your ears don't have ideals you stick too like the Crusties do. The elitist with ears. It's not even music.... crust is the best type of music ever period. Sonny Bono had some catchy hits, too. it sounds good. hence i listen to it. thats not a crime will, nor does sounding good mean it is bad Meh, I really can't be bothered to argue with you mall punks and ska kids any longer. If you want to ride out the pop trend, fine. i think the fact that crust has a lame ideology is a score against it, not for it It gets cold in my squat during the winter and the gutterXpunx don't clean up after themselves. You guys are assholes. While he expressed an opinion on the music, I think the more important statement Will was making was that crust has a lifestyle / ideology behind it. You can't say that about ska, especially third wave. While opinion on the music is up to the listener, at least crusties stand behind what they preach (for the most part - every movement has idiots). was there already a feeding5000 registered? why the extra "e" and what made you go with an extra "e" instad of say 5001....or was it feeeding that you wanted, 1-4999 were already taken? People give Will a lot of shit, but the fact is in my opinion he has the best taste in music on this site, he also talks a lot of sense, and after all everything on this site is a opinion, just like this is. what does this album actually mean, will? Sorry about my memory, Will said "old dudes", not old people - but it's still upsets me to the same extent. Definately Will, settle down. And referring to old people making fun of ska music is downright pathetic. Muhahaha. WIll, you suck. Man, I really, really wish crust and grind would get super-duper popular so Will could find something new to bitch about. So, in conclusion: Will is the crustiest spirit of '02 punk around. True. I can't imagine listening to Larm because they're cool... It's something you have to personally find in the music. This is neither inaccesible or bad music. That is a bias. Its all a matter of perspective and subjectivity and all that jazz. the argument for "ska" over "crust" is that ska actually sounds pleasent to the ears.. Good music is getting attacked by two fans of third wave ska. Why do you keep talking about ska Will? The incredible shittiness of a genre? I'm a perfectly normal crustxcore squatter streetxpunk spirit of '52 style bro, brah. Anyone who dosen't like this dosen't "get" it. It's the only explanation. You really can't go wrong with anything on crimes against humanity. uh, yeah, how is that a cryptic title? Man, Misery and RP are the top of the charts. Amazing. That being said, I've never really heard much of this band. My friend tried to sell me "The Early Years" once, but I figured it was a bad idea. Jesus christ what a stupid review. Used to go see them with their original singer Al who went on to sing for Nausea. Misery were great then! They were more influenced by bands like Conflict and Flux of the Ink Indians, never cared for them much in the later years though. Well then I guess you're just a magical little twink, aren't you? Will, Yeah, if you think the only good music ever made was crappy whiteboy ska. I take it crust is synonymous with shit now? Misery is good doom crust, but like all doom metal/crust stuff, it DOES NOT LEND ITSELF TO RECORD. These bands are almost purely live bands... It just gets boring sitting and listening to them, but if you're in the groove at a show, they can be some of the most memorable experiences to have. How is that a cryptic title? |
