the adicts are one of the best punk bands ever! awesome shit in this record!

This is a pretty good album it has alot of great tracks including "how sad", which i like listening to after ive heard the casualties straight for 5 hours.

the longest going punk band with original lineup right herrree! and put on hell of a fucken show

O' my bratties, this starry disk is real horrorshow. Some of the most smecking real dobby music I’ve ever slooshied, almost like starry Ludwig Van. Spend your pretty polly on this, not some oozhassny Lower Class Brats disk. It’s real fun, and made me smile right across my litso. This is the second pop-disc by the Adicts, a bunch of malenky punks dressed in the height of droog fashion, O my brothers.

OK, I can’t write a whole review in Nadsat. If someone else wants to try, itty ahead, but I’m not gonna sodding do it. So yeah, this is basically a really fun Ramones-style pop-punk pop-disc, with a few forgettable warbles, and a few really bolshy ones. The best moments are probably the “oh"’s in “How Sad,” which does zvook like it would itty horrorshow with scenes from “Clockwork.” The catchy-as-hell “Chinese Takeaway” is another standout track, with its inclusion of acoustic guitar and simplistic lyrics. Another warble, “Joker in the Pack,” benefits greatly from the use of fiddle.

Included on this 2002 reissue are tree bonus tracks, including the almost Celtic-sounding “You’ll Never Gooly On my oddy knocky.” The Pop-disc ends with a fantastic cover of “I Wanna Be Sedated,” which only suffers because the singer, Monkey, isn’t nearly as talented as Joey Ramone. Anyway, Zvook of Music is a fun pop-disc, and definitely worth getting out your bowler shlapa, oversized boots, and britva-cane for.

They played an overpriced venue (Peabody's) four times a year (15 dollars a ticket each time, plus a cover?), headlining overbooked shows each time (when I saw them it was 8 bands beforehand; this was at 7pm, not 2 in the afternooon) selling merchandise that was ramped up (15-20 dollar shirts...and you can't justifiy that with "they're from overseas, they need it") . They don't really have any connection to anything relevant in punk, and probably neither does half the fan base. Oh well, then.

Uh, quite a few bands used this gimmick after Adicts and way before LCB.

The only Adicts record every punk fan should have is the first one "Songs of Praise"- absolutely fantastic!

If you've gotta have more than one, go for this one or "27".

P.S.- "Joker In The Pack" is a kick ass tune also, but it's on a number of compilations like "UK/DK".

Is the You'll Never Walk Alone song a cover of the old classic Liverpool anthem? I bet it is.

the adicts would seem like a fun band live and they've got a handful of great songs on their first 2 records but also a bunch of filler.

It's such a fascinating read, you'll have a hard time putting it down. Buy it, read it, and then revisit their albums. You'll never look at the Ramones in the same light.

...Which is pretty fucking funny, seeing how the stupid preteen crusties showed up at the DIY show last week sporting mad patches of this band. They proceeded to suck mad balls, play ska and then get drunk and trash the house. Fuck them.

I have "Songs of Praise" and it's decent, but I can only listen to it when I'm in the mood for it. I never understood why so many "UK 82" kids latch onto these guys. And I blame them for the whole Clockwork Orange shit too.

I got my leg messed up pretty bad and had to take a retractable cane to school and a teacher took it away one time because she said it looked like a swordcane.

Um, this band is okay. I used to listen to a few of their songs I had DL'd of Kazaa. I'm surprised more pop punk fans aren't into this stuff.

The Adicts are one of those bands that get a ton of hype and never really deliver on it. Seeing them live was really great, but I don't own any records, and other than a greatest hits, I wouldn't really want any. I think they played the same venue here four times in a year, and the same kids probably went each time...it's probably time to hang it up, now. Nostalgia is great and all, but we do have the records to play over and over...
