Would it be unfair to label this as a "highly anticipated" album? I for one can say that after last year's Loud About Loathing EP and their standout track from the Rock Against Bush comp, None More Black had found their path. While I felt their previous album File Under Black was enjoyable as a poppy punk record, it seemed to lack cohesiveness. The band certainly made progress on the EP, and had a touch more aggression on the RAB track, so I should expect a solid album that flows well and hits hard, right? Well...maybe.

I really like the music.... With the exeption of like 3 songs this album fucking kills it, best songs...we dance, under my feet, zing pong, who crosses state lines and opinions and assholes Psh, dumb review. I can't get enough of this album. Every song is extremely addicting. None More Black is my new obsession. Immensely underrated band. Okay, I didn't really give the rest of the record a fair go when I last posted in here. After a few more listens I think the rest of it is pretty good too. When This Is Satire came out, i found it terribly boring and way too sloppy. I decided to give it another chance a month ago or so, and i was simply blown away by the brilliance of this record. It's one of the finest of the first half of 2006, no doubt. Come on, this album is great. I have only heard a few tracls off of this...but I really like what I have heard. I was never so into Kid Dynamite and I dislike Paint It Black, so I'm pretty surprised by how much I dig this. Under My Feet to Opinions & Assholes would make a fucking killer EP "We dance on the ruins of the stupid stage" = written on Jay and Silent Bob's blueprint in Mallrats. I noticed that last night and thought "wow. That's random and cool." I really, really like this album. One of my top 3 of the year so far, for sure. 3 stars for the 3 out of 13 songs I liked. Too many slow songs. If they whole CD sounded like "You suck! But your peanut butter is okay" or "With the Transit Coat on" it would be good but I just don't think jayson has the same energy with this album as he did with the previous. this record is good, but it gives you the feeling the next one will simply be better. I got this about a month ago and it took me awhile to really get into it but now I love it. Great song writing. What a dumbass the album was fuckin awesome i have been listening to it all the time this cd is WAY too much fun. it's real catchy and i can't stop listening to it. i'm satisfied. I disagree with the review , great record! I like it alot more than "File Under Black". different...but i like it a whole lot This album is a big letdown. I returned it immediately in exchage for an old Naked Raygun CD. Ah, much better. you have a terrible way of judging people. i'm glad i dont know you. An opinion on this album is my new way of judging people. I think it's one of the best albums I've ever picked up, all the way through. If someone I meet doesn't like it, I don't I like them either. first time ap.net had a better review. In addition to my previous comment, I also like how they pulled a Social Distortion and threw in some really good country-esque tunes. Wow. I picked this up yesterday, and it's blown me away. At first, I was skeptical about a few songs such as "Wallpaper" and "I see London" because initially, they sound awkward and avoid conventional melodies and such. But everything that first sounded sketchy is growing on me fast. "Peanut Butter is mocking the fans, not the band. Read the lyrics more carefully with that in mind and it'll be clear." so when crooky drops an album, will you be giving it 8 stars or 9? Peanut Butter is mocking the fans, not the band. Read the lyrics more carefully with that in mind and it'll be clear. Meant 3 stars, my bad... Ok, I've given it the dozen listens. Under My Feet is really good. Opinions and Assholes has its moments. A few other songs do too. Overall, though, very few songs are consistantly great, and some (Majestic and holy crap I See London) are just awful. Overall not unpleasent to listen to, because the good moments are as good as any band around now, but yeah... if you liked File Under Black (which I absolutely did), you might be disappointed. i've come to the conclusion that at first listen it isn't that great. But after probably 10 or so listens it gets better, and then add in the lyrics and it gets reeeeaaaaally good. Not great, but it gets probably a 9.5 at best, but you really have to listen and let it grow on you. alright serious, You Suck! But Your Peanut Butter Is OK, is it critizing Against Me! or their fans? I had the most fuckedest dream ever last night. I got the Kid D DVD that day and watched it three times.... and then in my dream Jason Shevchuk died in a car crash, I was really sad :( Posted by Anonymous: Yes, unfortunately I remember The Refreshments. Some dickbag who lived in the same hall in the dorms as I did freshmen year played whatever single they had repeatedly. That's OK, though, because I put his toothbrush in my asscrack one day, so he got what was coming to him. best record of 2006 so far. Such a progression from File... they're incredible Hot damn this CD is good. This album sucks, and this band is filled with liberal fags. Jason said "It's about how Against Me's fans get really pissed off at them and for some reason they still take favors from the band and pay to go see them." "this will be the dear you of our generation... trust me kids, in a few years you will agree" Stuhl sez, this shit was a waste of time to download. i'd rather hear a kd demo. This didn't grab my attention right away, but neither did File Under Black. My favorites so far: Nah it's cool, I was just giving you kudos for some good writing. Haven't heard this one yet but this band has always been right on the edge of me feeling like it was worth getting their stuff. Score's for each of their previous 2 CDs, I don't know that I'll be getting this anytime soon but I probably will eventually. CantSitStill so i havent picked this up, only heard the song on fat and am a huge fan of their last two efforts. after saying that, should i be worried? this will be the dear you of our generation... trust me kids, in a few years you will agree R3venge_Therapy: your review is much better than mine. this will be the dear you of our generation... trust me kids, in a few years you will agree Posted by Anchors on 2006-05-02 17:52:27 I KNOW THIS GUY WITH AN AGENDA TO HIS NAME Posted by Crookedsuperhero on 2006-05-02 17:44:57 Yeah, the reviewer is wrong. They have progressed. I can see the whole "Peanut Butter" being about Against Me!, but is it critical of the band, or is it mocking the people who criticize the band? In a lot of ways, I see comparisons between this album and Former Clarity. They have both traded in intensity on their former albums/bands for more melodic, slower songs. On both albums, there are songs about the struggles of being in a band. (Stupid Stage and Unprotected Sex). I don't see how NMB can rightfully give AM! shit for doing lots of the same things they are doing. Yeah, the reviewer is wrong. They have progressed. shit, the comment below this post was mine. CantSitStill I like this album a lot. More than the new Thursday at least... letmego: i'd probably have given this an 8. it's a really strong album that is still growing on me. i love loud about loathing, but this has a different vibe altogether and it's really great. letmego: possibly because different reviews are written by different people. Fuck it, I'm ordering this anyway. "Under Your Feet" is a really great song. Why the new thursday get a near perfect score when NMB get a 3/5 ? I cant understand people calling NMB records "just ok". I think everthing they have done has been exellent and this record may be the best yet. I'd think it'd be about the jackass kids who shit on Against Me! the second they got big, but I could be wrong? 5 stars. I disagree on the progression statement. There definitely is progression. File under Black was a full on straight forward punk cd... Satire has a lot of new flavor some of which carried over from the Load About Loathing EP, which I thought was a big step forward musically. Either way, I think this CD is better than FUB and LAL.... maybe it's because I played those two out, but it is a really really excellent CD. Sickboi, you can never have to many "Whoah-oah"s. I dig this album alot. It's full of great catchy tunes. Jason's lyrics on this one feel like a punk rock Bruce Springsteen. "woah woah woah? NMB fanboys? I wasn't expecting this to be nearly as good as it was, in fact I was almost expecting to be let down" their new drummer is nowhere near as good as dave w. i dont think there are any unique/difficult drum parts on this entire album. woah woah woah? NMB fanboys? I wasn't expecting this to be nearly as good as it was, in fact I was almost expecting to be let down. three stars!?!?!? Honestly, the only part of the review I really take exception to is the claim that they haven't progressed musically. This sounds nothing like FUB, and it's a further exploration of the classic rock influences that were at the forefront of LAL. i honestly can't say what my score is, because I never know how I feel about a NMB album until about a month after I got it. i like how its equal part rock and punk. they bring out a more rock'n'roll feel, like the EP, then on file under black. Hey, adults can say "suck" too. joeg: also, its not like 6 is that bad a score. the kids are revolting like it was giving a 3 or something. i myself wouldve put this at a 7. wow the none more black fanboys are getting mighty testy with the all powerful scoring system. this record isn't bad but ultimately i struggled to get through the entire thing and that's not a good thing either. meh. i'll split the difference. I encourage anyone who is patently offended by my review to submit their own review to the editors. This is a very good album. As for the reviewer, he's entitled to his own opinion, I just don't agree with it. Don't sleep on this one! so you disagree with a score. "Brian and I determined we are the only people on Earth that prefer File Under Black over Loud About Loathing..." Everyone'll think I'm an idiot, but... "Brian and I determined we are the only people on Earth that prefer File Under Black over Loud About Loathing..." Yeah, fair score i think. Really, pretty poor after Loathing. give it a few more spins... and you won't be able to stop. Maybe I'm crazy, but is "Opinions and Assholes" a jab at those bitching that NMB doesn't sound like Kid Dynamite? "Interestingly, the instrumental fade takes a good minute before ending, something NMB isn't really known for." agreed, this is one of the best records this year. with the exception of that thing in the middle of the album, its fucking great. if you think this is just mediocre, you probably havent listened to it enough, or are to dense to get with the lyrics "Interestingly, the instrumental fade takes a good minute before ending, something NMB isn't really known for." Not a very good review. Those first couple tracks are straight out amazing. Score is for this album. Tied for best of '06 with the Souls. " It's a real grower." You Suck, but Your Peanut Butter's OK is a killer song. I think for better or worse, NMB finally came out of Kid Dynamite's shadow for me with this disk and subsequent live show. (Yes, I'm still talking about that performance, it's been the only one I've seen in a loooooooong time.) Brilliant album. It's a real grower. Six? A fucking six? The problem I always seem to run into with NMB is this, It's Jason, and his voice always conjurs images of Kid Dynamite, and it is so unfair to think of that greatness when compared to NMB's standardness. I loved the Refreshments. Fizzy Fuzzy Big And Buzzy is a killer rock album that can probably be found in every cutout bin in America. The follow-up, The Bottle And Fresh Horses, wasn't bad, either. While this isn't nearly as amazing as File Under Black, it is still a very enjoyable album after you give it a few listens. "i absolutely love this album. one of my favorites of the year. it has a "searching for a former clarity" ness to it." i see london is my favorite drinking song these days. just great depresso punk. I like this album. True there are some Lucero vibes in this one that might make fans a little bit puzzled. But it's not that bad a record to be called a disappointment. i think the best songs are the opener, i see london, and 10 ton jiggawatts I disagree with this review as well! The album really sinks in after a few weeks and you have to give it time to sink its hooks into you. I really like this band now. The Refreshments rock. Everyone here should download Refreshments "Banditos" i absolutely love this album. one of my favorites of the year. it has a "searching for a former clarity" ness to it. While None More Black may not have "progressed" musically from their first album (and Jason's lyrics are still hard for me to follow) "Best album of the year so far, reviewer's got his god damn head up his ass if he can't see it." I can't wait to get this tommorow. Jason is definatly one of my favorite vocalists. Not horrible, not very good either. I was expecting a much better release than this one especially after Load About Loathing. COuld be worse though. it took me forever to finally get into file under black. il still try this out though. the artwork is badass Best album of the year so far, reviewer's got his god damn head up his ass if he can't see it. kinda boring good review of this one. my favorite song on this is "under my feet". This cd actually is neck and neck with Oh Calcutta for me. not what i was hoping for, but not entirely bad. the question of the day is: where's the rock? The Lawrence Arms are my favourite band (that are still playing), but I listen to this album way more than Oh Calcutta for some reason. I wasn't expecting much from this, because the new songs I've been hearing live had bored me, but surprisingly, I find myself really enjoying this album. I'll probably be into the songs more live now. i also agree 100% with the score this review is far off. this is the best record so far this year. how many times did you listen to it?! After listening around 60 times (not exaggerrating) this is five fucking stars, no more, no less. You know, the new alt-country-via-Lucero vibes, I'm not minding them at all. But this entire middle section is really just...flat. The songs are drastically missing that energy and conviction of the earlier stuff like "Banned from Teen Arts," "Everyday Balloons," and the RAB track you mentioned. Most of the songs are decent, a few legitimately good ("We Dance...," "You Suck!," "Majestic"), but there's just very little fun and fire otherwise. This album is great. I think they've progressed drastically since the first album. I thought that this was pretty weak. I still kinda like it but it's not really what I was hoping for | Features
