Sweden's the Smackdown received a not so delicate panning from this very site while being labeled "[dirty, nasty] screamocore." I'm not entirely sure why it was found to be so outright terrible (maybe the band's super goofy wrestling schtick, it involves pretty much all their lyrics), or so harshly sounding, because in all honesty the Smackdown just sounds like early Blood Brothers as recorded through a garage punk filter (I want to say C.Aarmé, but I can't invest in that 100%).

Musically, this album is great, they and The Jonbenet are the closest thing to having another new "old" blood brothers album, which isn't to say I don't like the direction Blood Brothers are going, but I loved all of their old stuff. So yeah, if you liked "This Adultery Is Ripe" and "March On Electric Children" by Blood Brothers or "The Plot Thickens" by The Jonbenet, you will probably like this. My god these guys are fucking morons, don't watch them live. Amazingly great live. They're pretty good, the review is kind of misleading. They're better than the Blood Brothers, not really the same kind of band. Examples of wrestling lyrics plz. not too bad at all I like The Raw better. Blood Bros? C.Aarme? Nah. This is more like a garagier version of modern thrash-punk, not unlike a more conventional Das Oath. fuck this shit. |
