Long Island has its pretty nice stock of hardcore bands, but Encrypt Manuscript proves the other end of the spectrum shouldn't go ignored. As displayed on their now 2-year-old EP, Dialogues, the band plays a weird type of jangly indie rock / jazz hybrid, like an even more stop-start obsessed Minus the Bear, but with usually spazzy, screamed vocals as if they were collaborating with the Blood Brothers co-frontmen. Otherwise, in less occurrent moments, Brian Davis compliments his bandmates with a smooth yelp.

Great review, I'm intrigued and downloading 2 songs by these guys as I write this. Great review, I'm intrigued and downloading 2 songs by these guys as I write this. Encrypt Manuscript is playing Sept 8th 2006 @ North Six in Brooklyn NY with Revelation Records band Gracer. The show is @ 8pm and they are headlining. That is all. they also have a 7 inch which is really, really good. great live band. i really liked this album, and the comparison to Make Up is dead on. I really like the songs I heard off this. The most interesting thing about this band is the two guitars that just neatly tear through each song. Its sounds like both guitar plays are playing different songs, but it comes together so well. Its almost like if OTMOP was jazz influenced. i saw this band in Chicago one time. decent times. |
