Hardcore: stubbornly resistant to change or improvement. That is a definition provided to me by dictionary.com, and sometimes you can see this in many hardcore acts, which makes you think about whether this genre really plans on staying alive with this fashion in writing. But, Madball came out with Legacy last year and prove that improvement is possible for hardcore acts.

all these guys know is hxc, freddy started singing when he was 8 with his brother in agnostic front, they sing about the hxc scene cause thats all they know, these guys are sincere in everything they sing about, just cause u cant relate to it doesn't mean its bad, it also has a lot of positive messages, that can give hope to people who are in similiar situations as them. Even if u dont like the lyrics, the music is good and will make you move, this is a classic band that has done a whole lot for the scene and deserves everyone's respect, great album great band period Ah, finally got internet again. So what's left? Fuck this band and anybody who has ever liked this horrible tough guy bullshit. An album this macho must be gay. ok you guys are fuckin retarded legacy is fuckin HORRIBLE, however old school madball is good....and tough guy? tough guy is the attitude towards the music, NOT the music....you want tough guy? listen to punch your face, everybody gets hurt, fatality...THAT is tough guy. not this. just because they talk about hardcore way too much and all of that you think its tough guy, also cuz they are DMS. people dont even know what its like. im from NYC. me and everyone else i know love DMS. not because of the drugs and they are a gang now and shit. skarhead brought that shit into DMS. Madball are old school DMS. MUCHHHH different. H20 are DMS. i dont hear shit bout them? everyone in NYC loves old school DMS. Even gorilla biscuits last night at their show said thank you DMS for keeping the scene alive...and the biggest part about it? DMS sets up allllll the superbowls of hardcore shows. so lets get this straight. madball is NOT tough guy. they do not write lyrics about people getting fucked up in their pits. the people who listen to the music make it seem like that because madball is a little tough. yea well so what? they are in a crew? fuck that they are in a good crew that helps our NYC scene and i am thankful for that. LEGACY SUCKS. SET IT OFF IS GOOD. done. i don't like madball Yeah, of course you can apply it to them, but ultimately the fact that they go around beating people up outweighs appreciating the fact that they were probably born and raised with nothing else in sight (although around here most crew kids are suburban shithead christians). It's the same reason people overlook the fact that most serial rapists were abbused as children- in the end, they ended up fucking up someone else's life. The last time Madball came to town at least one kid got knocked out in an act of blind violence during their set- some skinhead just went up to this kid who was dancing and punched him in the back of the head. From what I hear, the skinhead guy wasn't even reprimanded. These guys don't promote anything positive- they promote clanning together to kick everyone's ass. They promote the worst shit that could possibly come out of hardcore. For the record i am not straight edge nor am i claiming that that madball is, because they are not, my point is that there are negative messages in all forms of music and the fact that people like to blindly look past the positive aspects of some forms of music and focus on the negative aspects of others is retarted. Sure most of madballs lyrics are shallow and stupid, but their are some pretty postive content in some songs, and some people listen to their music just for the enjoyment of just that. And your comment that "You can't apply your lifestyle template blindly to everyone and then enforce it so righteously." can apply to the "Tough Guy" philosophy as well, perhaps this attitude is a product of their environment. Oh yeah, so if you complain about beatdown crews enforcing their lifestyles on everyone in sight through brutal gang violence, you must glorify junkie lifestyle. Not the best madball but a decent album. The same people who complain about the negative aspects of hardcore, are the same people who glorify morons who die sticking needles in their arms. I am not down with this. Another example of the incorporation of punk culture: a heavier offshoot of punk gets rap-metal-ized so the legion of mtv2 shits can spend their money on it. Reviews of the Casualties and Madball in the same day? I just think my stupid meter exploded. Fuuuuuck...Madball is just beyond terrible; not even unintentionally funny. "first blood are way more boring and generic than terror. hatebreed rules harder than terror does. These guys are stupid greaseballs. seriously i hate all this crap nyhc. why does anyone listen to this when kill your idols albums exist? Ugh . . . Fastball. Probably the worst band to ever exist. Seriously, fucking Fastball. haha, i was thinking "fastball" when i clicked the review. way not. And Madball continue to plow through the same album for the eighth time, eternally oblivious as to how much of a joke they are. Oh don't get me wrong, I love hockey more than any other sport. However, I hate douche bags wearing hockey jerseys. Madball and Casualties reviews on the same day? Albums by those bands have gotten the two best reviews ever on this site (the Madball pie chart and the Casualties tour diary). Dont bring hockey into this...hockey never did anything to you. "I here their live show is awesome" Hey Brian, why not post MY hardcore review? Eh, eh? my friends once saw a kid die at a madball show. that notwithstanding, i like this album. ahhh i miss fortyminuteswest...he was one of the best reviewers this site ever saw not nearly as good as the other madball review on this site mad ball is like the aquabats of hardcore, but completely unintentionally. These guys have relatives in other hardcore bands. Its good they let off steam, its bad they recorded it. This album is good hardcore, madball is good old school hardcore this review promotes dangerous driving. How come not nearly as many people make fun of Madball as they do with The Casualties? this is one of the best straight up genuine hardcore albums ive heard in fuckin ages. they are fuckin madball so they are going to sing about what they love.... and that is the hardcore scene. They've been playing hardcore since '88, b4 basically any hardcore bands still around today. these guy fuckin rip shit.. at last i finally get to see em in a couple of weeks... i dont get the madball bashing, you guys read the lyrics? no tough guy there I here their live show is awesome, but jesutron christ their albums bore me to death. one of the worst bands ever I agree with Brendan. no comment |
