I have to admit, reading “former members of Glassjaw” next to the new Classic Case CD, Losing at Life, was enough to rouse my interest momentarily. Sadly, as I would come to find out, it’s actually just one former member of Glassjaw, and it’s drummer Durijah Lang. That’s nothing against drummers, they just don’t typically contribute a whole lot to the songwriting process.

typically, perhaps. however durijah did a good deal of the arrangements of the material on the 1st assjaw disc. he's an actual musician. he's a badass drummer, but he also plays bass, guitar & yo mama. Ugh. This could have been a lot better. As noted, there are tracks to skip, but the good ones are pretty decent. 6/10. I have their first album and it's pretty good pop rock/indie rock whatever you want to call it. The couple of song's I've heard off of this one I'm not as fond of. Score is for the band themselves. I always thought Beloved was too melodic to be considered "metalcore", though they did have that singing/screaming shit going on. I dug them though... Classic Case is poopy however. Durijah was also in The Stryder, which blows away this and Glassjaw. I feel bad saying it but Josh Moore is wasting his talent here. Even his solo stuff on Myspace kicks the trash out of Classic Case. yeah, Beloved ruled This isn't that bad. Beloved ruled. This record is bunk. i always though beloved sucked ass i always thought norma jean came off as far too fake to be taken seriously. this shit is wayyy more appalling than norma jean. at least they sound like botch. |
