For those unfamiliar with the band, the Unlovables are New York City's happiest, poppiest female-fronted pop-punk/buzz-pop band. This is the second full-length from the four-piece group. I should probably mention that I'm somewhat biased, since the band's first release, Crush Boyfriend Heartbreak, is possibly my favourite pop-punk album of all time. That said, this album is also quite excellent.

This album is ok but musically it's so sugary it makes my teeth hurt. That's my only complaint, really, and if I'm in the right mood for it then it doesn't bother me, but there is a lot of pop in this pop-punk. A terrible review for a near perfect album. This album is brilliant in its emotional depth and anyone who writes it off as just a "fun, poppy" record hasn't spent any time listening to the lyrics. Better, gutsier, hallie learned to play the bass. great album by a great band. doesnt match crush though If you like this band, I highly recommend you pick up "More Than Motion" and "Stereo Girl" by Element 101 and the Cruiserweight CD on Doghouse records. Boht of the singers of those bands sing so similarly to this band's vocalists, yet I enjoy those band's music a bit more. Funny, I was listening to this today in my car. 2 shows in Portland with the Ergs-both 21 and over-yea for being 20. hooray, i am but a few days from being able to buy this! not nearly as good as crush but it's pretty good. female nyc poppunk = farken farked I'm really sick of this type of music. it's way too simple to be creative and no one will ever top MTX or screeching weasel. that being said, please stop !!! If "No Way" wasn't almost 5 minutes long this album would be perfect. I haven't stopped listening to it in ages. Not as good as Crush Boyfriend Heartbreak, but damn close. These guys/gal should be huge... unfortunately, Paramore will sell a million records, and the Unlovables won't. |
