I would liken the development of Takeover’s roster to the early years of Dexter Holland’s Nitro Records. With Holland signing acts like TSOL, the Damned and the Vandals, as well as re-issuing the Offspring's earlier works, the label reflected music that Holland grew up with and influenced him. Ben Harper, formerly of Yellowcard, has used Takeover Records both as a vehicle to re-issue pre-major label Yellowcard releases, and to give skatepunk and pop-punk bands that influenced Yellowcard an outlet for new releases. In putting out great albums by veterans Bracket, River City High, Inspection 12, and Hey Mike!, and coupled with their exceptional customer service (my package arrived in two days [!] after a slight mix-up in handling), Takeover is fast becoming one of my favorite record labels.

The first time I heard this album I really liked it. Then after a few more listens it got pretty boring. The album they released on Honest Don's was much better! This album is wonderful.. Or I'm vomiting. Probably both. If I get dizzy listening to this record it's because I smoked way too much pot. Haven't listened to this in a year or two for some reason, but remember really liking it. i cant get into these guys. i bought in recovery years ago and it has always felt like they are much more on the pop side than punk. they kind of make me think of elton john. Yeah, got back into this recently... really really good Get Rad is a good band from Milwaukee. Score is for the cover. Amazing band. Not counting the two aforementioned filler tracks, this is an incredible record. Sucks that there probably won't be any more. one of the most underrated bands ever.what a shame they are not around anymore (well they are kinda...). part of the reason for the time it took to record was because pete was recording bass for yellowcard and Dan was going to college. Good band, a favorite album of mine. Underrated. "You Can Call Me Al" is a Paul Simon cover "You Can Call Me Al" is a Paul Simon cover. yes, inspection 12 rules, I like their cd before this even more so, great band! |
