I'm sorry but you cannot sit there and consider yourself a "punk" or even utter the word unless you can say you've heard of GG Allin. Not just heard of him, but heard his music. You get five brownie points if you can sit there and say that you've seen him perform live. In fact, you get ten brownie points and a kiss if you actually got hit in the face with his shit at one of his shows.

GG Allin started nothing original but he did leave his obscure mark in true punk history. If not musically, he did physically and mentally. He was a punk a truer sense of the word and it can all be proven on this release. Terror In America Live was recorded in 1993 on his famous tour with NYC band the Murder Junkies, after he did a stint in prison. His music is extremely vile, and is classic new york hardcore. Surprisingly with song titles like " Expose Yourself To Kids", "Outlaw Scumfuck" and "Cocksucking Cannibals", some of the music on this LP is actually quite good if not just amusing. His work with the Murder Junkies is actually some of his finest work. All of which can be found on this release.

What you can't see on this record is his legendary performances in the nude, tragic assault on audience members and watching him defecate onstage and eat it. Maybe even throw it at you.

GG died of an overdose in 1993, but if you'd like to take a gander at what you couldn't see on this LP, try finding the Todd Phillips documentary Hated.

I'm so glad this man is dead. I can sleep safely at night knowing that he wont be around, with his split Fu-Manchu mustache, ready to rub his tiny poop covered weiner in my mouth. Rot in hell, GG. I love you.

GG was everything wrong with the world wrapped in a nice neat package, and all you could do was laugh at how bad it was. I think GG gives us a valuable lesson, hate = humor.

    My Score:

GG represented all that was wrong about humanity, and only furthered the misconception to mainstream society that punk is for shit-eating idiots. On the other hand, I do find the guy strangely appealing. The HATED documentary is very good, its a great conversation piece when a party starts to dull, just pop that in and people will talk. The chick pissing in his mouth, the banana up the ass... he was a twisted fuck. Musically, the GG and the Carolina Shitkickers 7" (which is all acoustic) is actually pretty good, and the posthumous "Kill Them All" 10" with the Murder Junkies are the best work he ever put out. Everything else I've heard from him, well, truthfully it sucks. Then again, the guy wasn't a musician, he wasn't really an entertainer... He was a guy that truly lived on the fringe of society, that lived by nobodies rules, and the world is probably a better place now that he is dead.

    My Score:

Its been nearly 5 years since the last Propagandhi album. What have these guys been up? Some years back Propagandhi went out and formed the G7 Welcoming Committee Collective (a worker owned and operated record label dedicated to the expansion of resistance culture through music, print, and spoken word) rather than putting out their own new material-until now.

The big question here is that in music today, is there a need for these guys? While in the late 70s and early 80s you may be able to name off about 1000 Activism/America Sucks bands, today theres only a few left. Why is that? Bands have moved on from their roots and sing about girls now, times have dramatically changed. I myself can only think of a small handful of people I know who lives are all about activism and anarchy and their pool of supporters and fellow "comrades" are very tiny. Most people who like bands like Propagandhi or Anti Flag for example love their music, just not their messages that they speak of.

There was a twinge of excitement when it was announced that this album could be downloaded from Napster. I must inform you that there is much more this time around to their c.d. as a whole. Besides getting new songs, stick your c.d. into the c.d. rom drive in your computer and its a multimedia experience. Although most people will care less about the multimedia features and just about the music you can't deny that you cannot experience this with just downloading the album off Napster.

There are numerous video presentations on here including "Ward Churchill: To Disrupt, Discredit, And Destroy", "The G7 Welcoming Committe", and "William Blum: U.S. Foreign Policy-A Study In Hypocrisy".

There are also various pamphlets you can view via Acrobat Reader which also comes on the c.d. The activist William Blum contributes a whopping 189 page essay called "To Disrupt, Discredit and Destroy-The FBI's secret War Against The Black Panther Party" and there is also a 16 page thing on why you should chose to be a Vegan.

There is also a presentation from AK Press Audio where you can read all about Anarchism, Vegetarians, Animal Rights, Zapatisa, all written by "progressive intellectuals and activists".

The music is the same, they mix together mid 80s political hardcore and early 80s speed metal. Like all the multimedia features, the themes are the same, "Fuck The Border, Bullshit Politicians, and Albright Monument Baghdad". There are some pretty decent songs on here.

So is this c.d. for you? If you live for anarchy and activist issues I couldn't recommend anything more than this. Its perfect because of the added multimedia experience besides getting new material from Propagandhi. If you are not into hardcore and you especially hate anything to do with politics whatsoever then stay away.

    My Score:

Ha, a great perfomance on tape, even though to tell you the truth, all throughout the late 80's and early 90's hardcore punk shows in NY almost always ended in a riot. And a riot was an extremely crappy thing to go down at a show, happened so much it became routine for bands. But not many were ever caught on tape, this was. Whats bullshit is GG promised to pull a stage-suicicde and pathetically just overdosed.

    My Score:

Never a big fan of GG's music but you must see his final performance if at all possible. GG plays in a dump old gas station in the east village, followed after two songs (?) by a small riot with the fans which of course spills out into the streets of NY with forty or so punks smashing shit, GG of course running nude through the street. There is one shot where a cab driver makes a turn onto the street, sees the carnage before him, and immediately slams the car into reverse. the cops are even afraid to confront the crowd! I believe he OD'ed that very night.

    My Score:

Fighting over whats punk and isn't. Bah. If anthing, punk should be about unity & equallity. The post below said it right. There's none of that going on when Blink182 is playing the same 45 minute set in an arena with 10 foot barricades and dozens of security protecting them from what? 12 year old kids? There should be no barricade, no security. There should be no difference between fans and stars. Your all the same. It's crap that a band like Blink would pose on a magazine like Seventeen or Cosmogirl, and do all this crap with co-hosting movie awards, all this shit you'd see Bon Jovi doing 10 years ago. Rock stars suck, whether they're punk or not.

How the did this get from GG Allin to Blink182?

Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, November 11, 2001 at 1:12 PM (EST)
    My Score:

Uh, Blink signed to MCA within 2 years of forming, that's not "paying your dues." Does signing to a major really matter. No. I don't care, not many people do. It's the fact that Blink is pretty much unoriginal, not very talented, awful songwriters, and horribly boring live, (Don't kid yourself into thinking it's "punk" to have 10 foot barriers and legions of security gaurd you from a bunch of kids while you play the same set every night). Reall, most people have a problem with the fact that Blink are selling millions of albums solely on the fact that they are cute. If Blink looked like the Ramones, do you really think they'd be selling 5 millions records on their "talent."

By the way GG, like someone said was in his own ballpark, you can't call him punk, or anything for that matter.

He wasn't articulate offstage. Yes, he wasn't as stupid as you would think, but he was no genius. The guy was a massive drug addict and alcoholic, abusive, and in jail half the time (more during the later part of his career) I give him credit that he was totally serious about the stuff he did, but he really didn't do much. I'd like to see anyone come from a dysfunctional childhood like his and turn out normal.

I would give anything to be 'abused' by GG(well....). Really, if your going up to GG and your actually suprised if he attacks you, what is wrong with you? You stand as far away as possible. I would never ask him anything. I would ask someone to ask someone to ask someone to ask him.

Some of his tunes are actually somewhat poppy. THATS the fucked up part.
