I'm sorry but you cannot sit there and consider yourself a "punk" or even utter the word unless you can say you've heard of GG Allin. Not just heard of him, but heard his music. You get five brownie points if you can sit there and say that you've seen him perform live. In fact, you get ten brownie points and a kiss if you actually got hit in the face with his shit at one of his shows. GG Allin started nothing original but he did leave his obscure mark in true punk history. If not musically, he did physically and mentally. He was a punk a truer sense of the word and it can all be proven on this release. Terror In America Live was recorded in 1993 on his famous tour with NYC band the Murder Junkies, after he did a stint in prison. His music is extremely vile, and is classic new york hardcore. Surprisingly with song titles like " Expose Yourself To Kids", "Outlaw Scumfuck" and "Cocksucking Cannibals", some of the music on this LP is actually quite good if not just amusing. His work with the Murder Junkies is actually some of his finest work. All of which can be found on this release. What you can't see on this record is his legendary performances in the nude, tragic assault on audience members and watching him defecate onstage and eat it. Maybe even throw it at you. GG died of an overdose in 1993, but if you'd like to take a gander at what you couldn't see on this LP, try finding the Todd Phillips documentary Hated. Please login or register to post comments. GG Allin sucks so hard it's not even funny. G. G. Allin isn't cool. I'm so glad this man is dead. I can sleep safely at night knowing that he wont be around, with his split Fu-Manchu mustache, ready to rub his tiny poop covered weiner in my mouth. Rot in hell, GG. I love you. GG was everything wrong with the world wrapped in a nice neat package, and all you could do was laugh at how bad it was. I think GG gives us a valuable lesson, hate = humor. puuuuunk? well, to me he sounds (and look) more like a redneck. but well... who cares, the guy's dead anyways. GG represented all that was wrong about humanity, and only furthered the misconception to mainstream society that punk is for shit-eating idiots. On the other hand, I do find the guy strangely appealing. The HATED documentary is very good, its a great conversation piece when a party starts to dull, just pop that in and people will talk. The chick pissing in his mouth, the banana up the ass... he was a twisted fuck. Musically, the GG and the Carolina Shitkickers 7" (which is all acoustic) is actually pretty good, and the posthumous "Kill Them All" 10" with the Murder Junkies are the best work he ever put out. Everything else I've heard from him, well, truthfully it sucks. Then again, the guy wasn't a musician, he wasn't really an entertainer... He was a guy that truly lived on the fringe of society, that lived by nobodies rules, and the world is probably a better place now that he is dead. thats when the doctor grabed my nuts and told me to cough. I then peed on him! what's up with the propagandhi reviews ?? Its been nearly 5 years since the last Propagandhi album. What have these guys been up? Some years back Propagandhi went out and formed the G7 Welcoming Committee Collective (a worker owned and operated record label dedicated to the expansion of resistance culture through music, print, and spoken word) rather than putting out their own new material-until now. Just to clarify: I belive GG promised to kill himself on stage on Hollween but was in prison at the time. I remeber thinking I had to see it but then found out he was in the can. Watching this guy is the only reason you'll ever need not to use heroin. punk or not, he licks nuts. GG Allin is a sick fuck! Ha, a great perfomance on tape, even though to tell you the truth, all throughout the late 80's and early 90's hardcore punk shows in NY almost always ended in a riot. And a riot was an extremely crappy thing to go down at a show, happened so much it became routine for bands. But not many were ever caught on tape, this was. Whats bullshit is GG promised to pull a stage-suicicde and pathetically just overdosed. Never a big fan of GG's music but you must see his final performance if at all possible. GG plays in a dump old gas station in the east village, followed after two songs (?) by a small riot with the fans which of course spills out into the streets of NY with forty or so punks smashing shit, GG of course running nude through the street. There is one shot where a cab driver makes a turn onto the street, sees the carnage before him, and immediately slams the car into reverse. the cops are even afraid to confront the crowd! I believe he OD'ed that very night. hey, guess what, theres absolutely nothing punk about this fuckhead gg or his waste-of-time cds Fighting over whats punk and isn't. Bah. If anthing, punk should be about unity & equallity. The post below said it right. There's none of that going on when Blink182 is playing the same 45 minute set in an arena with 10 foot barricades and dozens of security protecting them from what? 12 year old kids? There should be no barricade, no security. There should be no difference between fans and stars. Your all the same. It's crap that a band like Blink would pose on a magazine like Seventeen or Cosmogirl, and do all this crap with co-hosting movie awards, all this shit you'd see Bon Jovi doing 10 years ago. Rock stars suck, whether they're punk or not. Uh, Blink signed to MCA within 2 years of forming, that's not "paying your dues." Does signing to a major really matter. No. I don't care, not many people do. It's the fact that Blink is pretty much unoriginal, not very talented, awful songwriters, and horribly boring live, (Don't kid yourself into thinking it's "punk" to have 10 foot barriers and legions of security gaurd you from a bunch of kids while you play the same set every night). Reall, most people have a problem with the fact that Blink are selling millions of albums solely on the fact that they are cute. If Blink looked like the Ramones, do you really think they'd be selling 5 millions records on their "talent." Its been nearly 5 years since the last Propagandhi album. What have these guys been up? Some years back Propagandhi went out and formed the G7 Welcoming Committee Collective (a worker owned and operated record label dedicated to the expansion of resistance culture through music, print, and spoken word) rather than putting out their own new material-until now. you guys ever see his dick? man it was nice As far as feces flinging and all of that other stuff nothing new or original and his music sux too. Gwar and hundreds of other bands do the same stuff at their shows now, so others did it before them too. He wasn't articulate offstage. Yes, he wasn't as stupid as you would think, but he was no genius. The guy was a massive drug addict and alcoholic, abusive, and in jail half the time (more during the later part of his career) I give him credit that he was totally serious about the stuff he did, but he really didn't do much. I'd like to see anyone come from a dysfunctional childhood like his and turn out normal. As Ive heard it, offstage when he wasn't 'performing' he was a very articulate guy. Both GG and The Murder Junkies were NOT ny hardcore. It is untalented, crap noise and I'm glad it's gone and done away with...The sick fuck is better off dead. yes, this guy was fucked in the head.he made marilyn manson look like a catholic school girl. and yes, his music was pretty pathetic. i'm not sure what to think about a nut-ball like gg allin.- fathead People will call this punk cause thats the closest thing to what GG was doing, but it's not. GG would be doing this whether punk happened or not, I don't think he would consider himself a punk or care at all. GG pretty much wasn't punk.....He was in his own ballpark, his own dimension, his own world. There will never be anyone else like GG. But that's a good thing. GG knew he could never accomplish anything with any talent, musically or lyrically, so he built his life solely on shock. Which is a pretty crappy way to live, but I guess he liked that attention. GG wasn't punk or anything else, he was just simply insane. Honestly, he IS better off dead, but its pathetic that he died of a worthless overdose instead of his oh so promised stage suicide. i'm sorry, but this guy sounds about as punk as Procter and Gamble. I have no interest in listening to his music (of course now that i say that, i kinda want to download a song just to see what it's like), and i've already lost any sort of respect for him. I hate this guy and I'm glad he's dead. He's one of the few people I can honestly say that about. He was disgusting. He beat up the people who came to his shows, attacked people for no reason, threw shit at people, and abused women. A female interviewer asked him a question and he grabbed her by the hair and threw her on the ground for no reason. Yeah, there's a guy to look up to. If that's punk, then count me out. His music was the worst piece of shit you could find, but he was damn entertaining. And yeah, anybody could be GG. Just no one is as insane(or stupid) as him. Fuckin GG! I never heard this album but I already give it a 10. It probably sounds like it was taped from a handheld mini recorder that was puked on. Took rock n roll to the utmost extremes - so dont even try to copy him, punk! I agree he was one sick fuck. Smashing his head with hammers, jumping on broken glass, shitting on stage and throwing it on people (and himself), Doing mind blowing amounts of drugs on stage, and other unspeakable acts..yeah definitley something to take the kids to. |
