Bitter fans? Check. Keasbey Nights remake? Check. Many fucking touring thefts? Check, check, check. Four-plus years later, we finally have new music from the Tomas Kalnoky's Flying Circus, even though the band knew we were all going to bootleg it.

I was wrong. Now that this album has sunk in, I would say it is lyrically and musically superior to EGN in a variety of ways. In fact, this CD is one of the best ever in whatever-genre-it-is. Now that i've had a chance to listen to it (A lot, 10 times since I couldn't stop) I fucking love this album. My favorite album of 2007 for sure. I've been listening to Streetlight for about 2 years now, and I have to say I was kind of disappointed with this album. I mean, it didn't have any songs that struck me as "amazing!" There wasn't a 9mm and a Three Piece Suit or Point/Counterpoint. I thought it sounded good, but not up to par... Streetlight Manifesto is one of the best just instrumental ska bands i have ever heard, as if Keasbey Nights, and everything goes numb wasn't great but this long awaited album i believe have topped all before, i recommend people buy this cd Streetlight Manifesto is one of the best just instrumental ska bands i have ever heard, as if Keasbey Nights, and everything goes numb wasn't great but this long awaited album i believe have topped all before, i recommend people buy this cd I've listened to this Album a billion times now. I really can see the work that was put into it. Everyone pushed there musicianship into high gear (as if it wasn't up there already). I didn't realize Punknews and Pitchfork shared reviewers. This is one of these albums that it seems like everyone had already decided to love or hate 6 months ago Wow, a colossal failure on my part. There is a running theme in the lyrics. And this time it’s in every single song. They should put out an instrumental album. That would be awesome. Yeah. so after criticizing it and saying that the lyrics and music aren't as good, you give it a 10/10? It seemed like every song on EGN was anti suicide, which I thought that was an excellent theme. I was looking for something similer here in the lyrics, but it just isn't there. The music isn't quite as good either, but it's still excellent. by somewhere in between, i meant everything goes numb. my bust. i really like ska. i didn't mind somewhere in between or the keasbey nights remake. but this is actually the worst album i've heard this year. (in all fairness i didn't listen to anything notoriously awful) Lousy review for a great album. "Everything Went Numb" is not a long forgotten album. I think "Somewhere In Between" is the best album of their's to date. score is for claiming that The Blonde Lead the Blind would be a good album closer. I really can't think of a worse one at all, much less a worse song penned by Streetlight. The show from last night was fantastic. Freekin' long set. The stich up were good, even played an MU330 track. Suburban Legends rocked the place despite their setbacks, and as for Streetlight? Well, their set was one of those things were you get taken back to those good times from long ago. I mean, i felt like I was back in jr. highschool all over again! They played a great mix of old and new, and even some BOTAR songs. a great night was had here in New Mexico. Guys, he gave the album a 7 out of 10. That's pretty freaking good. Just because you're a fanboy and want everyone to give this album a 10 doesn't mean any less is a bad review. It was well-written and coherently structured, which puts it in the upper tier of non-Staff reviews here. "Bitter fans? Check." its what a wicked gang ARE WE! I love everyone giving the reviewer a hard time. "Every time the guy blows, he sounds like he’s trying to clean out his spitvalves through force alone" Oh, and to the person that said the sequencing was sorta fucked, he/she is totally right. First listen, I'd only give this a 5 or 6, but with every listen following that it just got better and better. i will def. be picking this up. I can;t understand the negativity surronding this review - seems like the review for every big album that is released gets slammed. it's not gonna get published in the new york times, but its better than a lot. sonically the best thing they've put out so far though.... i agree with the "asshole" below me. this needs time to sink in. ATTN: everyone who is saying this is not as good as Everything Goes Numb I think this is the best album of the year. So sue me. Whenever this album goes back to the first song in my car's CD player, I'm always surprised because I didn't realize that the last song had played. Don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing. Love this album though. I gotta say they finally made some new music... well at least half the songs don't sound like the old ones... so congrats? this band is fucking terrible. Haven't ever listened to these guys, but I'm ready for some more BORAT. Not as good as EGN, but it is still a great album. It's just lacking a certain epic-ness that Numb had. I wish there were more songs too. i love this album. best thing in ska this year besides big d. seeing these guys tonight here in new mexico with suburban legends. I think it's impossible for any band to follow-up to an album like Everything Goes Numb. It is a perfect album, there's no way this one would have topped it. I love it though, i find myself singing some of the lyrics without even realizing I'm doing it. I like it. Cant tell if its better than EGN or not, but they have their pros and cons. I must say tho, the trumpet player is absolutely amazing. He blew me away when i saw them live. Also, whats wrong with the basslines? They're just as good on this as any other C22/SM release. I agree with this review. It does sound very similar to the ir other album and the record does seem out of sequence. Although it is good, its not as good as it could have been. I think the peple hating on this review just want this record to be something that its not. the basslines are not lacking at all on this album, that guy has some incredible skill. Well written, if a bit overthetop review, although I disagree on many accounts. I love this album as much, if not more than Everything Goes Numb, and I'm only about 5 spins through it. and at least bad religion and nofx give a little more substantial lyrical content. It's good, but they should've progressed way more considering the wait. The end. This sounds like it was written by a frustrated high school band teacher hahahaha. i guess it's good my review didn't get published. half this fucking web page would have shit a brick. I mean I don't think it's the best review but it's not like the dude railed on streetlight all that hard, a terrible review would have been like "2 stars, ska is dead, check out my post-rock band" I checked youtube to see what this band sounds like since everyone seems to think they're "top 5 of the year". man, fuck you guys! horns and annoying lyrics? FUCK YOU ALL!! I can't listen to this shitty shit any longer than I can rap/hip hop/whatever the fuck it is. Fuck this!! crappy review. Gas/Grave should have been the last track. I'm sure the reviewer will write off all the angry comments left here as jaded fanboys, but in all honesty, did we listen to the same album? Sure, the bass isn't quite the same as it was on EGN, but that's because it's a different player, which means a different style. I love the new balance of brass/saxaphone, EGN was way to sax-heavy in my opinion. The only truly weak track on this album (and most people I have talked to agree) is Blonde Lead the Blind. where's my streetlight review? i think Brian hates me, he didn't post any of my reviews... bass player....ha awesome album, not so awesome review Earth to stupid guy, the horn section is not the main appeal of Streetlight Manifesto. Oh noes! The Interweb army of Ole Tommy Kalnoky is afoot! Seriously, kids need to relax. I like their work but it's so funny that if you criticize (or even in this case just aren't ass over balls in love with) a Streetlight album their fans act like you must be a barely functioning retard. It's good music but it's nothing to fuck a cement mixer over. I have never listened to a single song by this band, not sure why. Am I making a huge mistake not listening to them even if I don't listen to much skapunk anymore? I think the horn intro to Forty Days sounds a lot like One Jump Ahead from Disney's Aladdin. There have been accusations that there is no "theme" from this album and EGN, like there was for Keasby Nights and Point/Counterpoint, but I think the horn intro on Forty Days sounds a LOT like the chorus on Here's to Life. I love this album, I find it hard not to keep listening to it constantly. still not as good as EGN. After taking four years, you would think they would have at least more songs. I would have liked to see Eyelids on this, seeing as how they play it live all the time. fucking awesome. dont see how it could rate less than 4 stars. Probably in the top five for album of the year. err, the 10 would have been for constructive criticism, but i'm a bit lost and forgetful. Should have given this album an 8. Then I should have used more words ending in -ly. Awesome album. Terrible review. Actions speak louder adjectives, veggieska. basically Everything Goes Numb with more intricate horns One of the "top 10 worst reviews on org". Everything Goes Numb was an amazing album that came along at the perfect time in my life. I don't think it would be possible to match its impact now, regardless of how good this album may be. The first album was absolutely classic. This barely comes close. Definately not as catchy. This record is not bad its just too... ordinary. Its just pretty average and mediocre. there could've been such better reviews than this bullshit One of the "top 10 worst reviews on org". HORRIBLE review... one of the worst i've ever seen. shame it had to be for such a good album. score is for "veggieska" "Drastic tempo changes occur much less frequently as compared with past work, and it gives the impression that maybe the band rushed through the writing process, despite having several years to prep. " Amazing fucking album, which is surprising since they set the bar so fucking high with Keasby Nights back with Catch. I expected a kind of drunk, washed up Kalnoky. Instead I got a complex, fantastic fucking experience. The lyrics are well written and the theme of falling and getting back up runs throughout the entire album. I like themes. Themes are hawt. Attention every other ska band in the world: The bar has just been raised. great album. it's no new wave, but this almost seems like a polarizing review given the quality of this record. score is too generous for a too-mediocre album from guys who can do better. This review is a little too heavy on the horn critiques and not enough on the guitar and lyrics. I sense some sort of high score backlash with the score for this one. Maybe it's just because I think this album is da fuckin bomb, baby! I think this is a really good album. |
