Even while bubbling below the surface for nearly their entire existence, Pittsburgh's Aus-Rotten were arguably one of the most important bands of the 1990s in the American punk scene. Not exactly crust per se -- due mostly to the lack of "X," "Anti-" and "Dis-" in their name and vocals that were actually decipherable -- but hard to separate from their anarcho roots and the future crust acts they would go on to influence. As the 1990s came to an end, so too did Aus-Rotten. In its wake, vocalist Dave Trenga, guitarist Bill Chamberlain, and drummer Matt Garabedian formed Behind Enemy Lines, and the cycle of life was complete.

although I'm pretty sure this isn't what the "punx" are jocking right now, it does have to be said that all the "punx" at my school were really into Aus Rotten for a while, so there is a connection. "looking forward to the obligatory 'this ain't crust' post from feeding5000" looking forward to the obligatory 'this ain't crust' post from feeding5000 good band, but i prefer "The Global Cannibal" to the release. And yeah, this is not a band high school "punx" are really into... This stuff is okay, but its pretty much fast metallic hardcore with political lyrics. I really prefer crust along the lines of Amebix, where it is mid to slow paced, and creating a sense of atmosphere. high school "punx" are stoked high school "punx" are stoked This is a pretty good record. But this band just keeps getting better. "One Nation Under The Iron Fist of God" is crushing. Great band. Their latest LP is definitely one of my favorite albums of the last few years. When you've got dudes from The Pist, Aus-Rotten, and Caustic Christ it's a total no-brainer you're gonna be awesome. Haven't heard these guys yet but it sounds fucking awesome. Will check out. that owen wilson movie sucked. |
