This is a record is discovered thanks to one of those good old fashioned paper zines people hand you at shows. In it there was a short interview with a new Bridge 9 band by the name of Breathe In, what really caught my attention was the fact that in the interview they referred to their two biggest influences as Black Flag and American Nightmare. These being my favorite bands I ran out and bought the CD within a week. I have to be honest I didn't expect too much from it. I mean what band could possibly offer anything near what Black Flag or A.N. had done for me? I have to admit to eating my own words on that one. Right off the bat the record hits hard and fast. It was in fact what it'd been mentioned as in that article. Heavily disorted feedback laden hooks with pissed lyrics and all that emotion out the ass. The sound is in fact very remiscent of a Black Flag or American Nightmare, but at times it comes to a poppier pitch really more in the veign of Kid Dynamite. It's 12 songs, and clocks in at about 22 minutes, and if you're downloading it to check it out I have to suggest the seventh song 11-10-00 (long drive home), because as great as the record is that 's really the clincher on it. i like this but some of the lyrics are pretty horrible. I can't say this band is too hot. I saw them live like 5 times and they are so contrived. Its almost embarassing to watch.. It's ok. Not horrible... Just pre meditated This is one of the best new bands I've heard in a long time. Old skool punk HC at it's finest. Gimme more!!! I just received this in the mail the other day, and I have to say I'm not "blown away". It's decent, don't get me wrong... but not great. This is the best new band I've heard in quite a while. It's nice to see a HC band step out of the "cookie-cutter" mold of spastic chord changes with the obligitory chugga-chugga breakdown parts. Well done. are there any bands that ever get good scores because they're different than ten million other bands that only change their sound slightly to appear different? Yeah, I got this record through interpunk. It's mindblowing. Punk & Hardcore just got in a full speed car wreck, and there will be no survivors.My friend saw them the other night, and said that they were one of the most off the hook live bands he had seen in a long while. Do they have anything else out? I have always loved Bridge 9, but they outdid themselves with this one. This is probably even better than the American Nightmare releases that they put out. It's easier to listen to all the way through at least, because it's not the same sound over and over. An amazing record. I can't wait to hear more from these guys, and get to see them live. so would you recomend this record for a seven year old? yeah this record is great and so is bridge 9 i'm going to keep this short (and somewhat unintellegent)... |
