Occasionally a band will attemp to capture it's audience with a repeat of it's previous success. Occasionally, this will calm the self-declared "followers" of the band. "they haven't sold out, they haven't gone soft, they haven't changed..." can be heard being whispered as they walk from the cd player. It is those people that this album was titled for. Ignorance is Bliss ain't it?

Music is all about the change. It's the anticipation for the following note, or riff, that brings you to the edge. It's the truth of the lyrics and the emotion associated with the lyricists. A true song combines the elements of emotion and truth, and attempts to capture them with instruments so when played simultaneuosly one can hear the harmony.

Harmonically, this is a great album. This is more than great. I give it the highest rating. I can listen to this over and over just like their self-title. Maybe next time, lost, nearly immpossible, prodigal, burden, etc. All are masterpieces that I think the band knew would be ignored. The change is incredible, the lyrics are truthful and heartfelt, the emotion jumps and those who can't handle it call it soft or insult the band with the label sellout. As I asked before, Ignorance is Bliss, ain't it....?

This album's awesome in my opinion.. i love the way it all fits together as a whole, and all you should try and understand some people'll like it and some won't.. different tastes so quit cussing each other out.

ok fannybaws i'll sort this argument out. Best album is Ignorance is Bliss, then Don't Turn Away then s/t. IIB is their best because it shows true diversity, when they knew everyone who likes 'punk' music would hate it. Do you think Pennywise would put out an album this bold.
Anyway in the end the musics good and thats all that matters.

    My Score:

you wanna know why they dont play it live? because 99% of you wouldnt get it because you cant run around in circles to it.

this album was so far ahead of its time. fuck, all you clowns who think Jimmy Eat World is ground breaking probably hate this record.

anyway, even if it was an experiment, f2f showed that they are, and always will be in a class by themselves. think youre beloved Pennywise would ever make a record this brave?

Victory Garden??? you fucking imbecile , if you are going to talk shit at least get the name right.

    My Score:

This album just bores me. If this was their first album, I would have never gotten into them. I would have written them off as another boring "Hard Rock Band." Granted, I probably wouldn't hate the album quite as much, because I wouldn't have known that they can do so much better. I recall seeing them a month before their "reactionary album came out. How many songs did they play from this piece of shit? none. The next time I saw them, they played 1. They apparently know that its a shitty album, why can't other people realize? I'll give them credit though. This album doesn't piss me off nearly as much as that covers album. That was the most offensive piece of shit I've ever heard.

oh... so captain anonymous wants to be grown up now. OK, here goes, I through the Victory Garden shit in for laughs. The real root of the problem was me arguing about you saying that they are "true punks" when they are anything but. What exactly is "punk" about fucking over your friends to benefit yourself? That isn't a skeleton hiding in the closet, that's just a really shitty group of people. There's nothing to argue about with that fact. There is no possible redemption for that, it wasn't poor judgement, it wasn't being in some goofy band, it was fucking over somebody that thought enough about your band to put out your record.

    OK? Satisfied?

    DONE

Up yours ass bag. I said NOTHING about what is and isn't punk, you started that bullshit. But even in all my years, "punk rock" has never been fucking over your friends and stealing.

or am I reading from a different "rule book".

fuck off, i was just saying they suck, they do. (as people, i could give a shit about the band) the end.

    "real punks"

HA! these guys are jokes, they completely screwed Dr. Strange by taking a record HE paid for and put out on his label and took it away from him to go to FAT.

These guys were in a frat boy hair metal band called Victory Garden years back.

    True punks indeed. blah

This album is horrible, if you want to hear real face to face get "Don't Turn Away" or my personal favorite "Big Choice."

Good album, I like it a lot, but years ahead of its time?

This is my favourite face to face record ever. It was definitely a few years ahead of it's time, and it's a bloody shame they refuse to play any of it live...
