This band is going to get alot of flak for trying to copy Jawbreaker and maybe they deserve it because they sound an awful lot like Jawbreaker. Personally I could care less if they sound like Jawbreaker because I love Jawbreaker and I love these guys. I'm a fan not a critic, and if I enjoy music I'm not going to stop listening to it because it sounds like someone else.

Now that I got that of my chest how about a review. From the opening distorted feedback of this cd I was hooked, the melody, the gruff vocals singing great lyrics, and just the all together catchiness of this record kept me listening. My favorite songs on this cd are the opening track soul rebel song which starts off the album perfectly leaving you wanting more, see you in spring is a song about marriage with the great lyrics " this isn't about religion, just a choice that feels right. Another great song is Chase the sun which is the first song I ever heard by these guys, it was on the adeline comp. Might as well, Can't Dance. On this cd its acoustic and it still sounds just as great as it did the first time I heard it. Overall this is one of my favorite cds at the moment.

If you are a fan of music like Jawbreaker, Leatherface, Hot Water Music, and Small Brown Bike I urge you to check this out you won't be disappointed

I'm surprised that the comments below weren't all that impressed with this album. I thought it was great, and I can definitely hear the Jawbreaker and Leatherface influences (although the HWM and SMB are questionable). I'm not usually into such mellow music, but something just struck me about this album, and I really like it.

One Time Angels being compared to any of those bands is a stretch, especially Leatherface.

Saw these guys at Gilman. They had it all together--really tight, good musicianship, pretty rockin', good harmonies... and just really boring. Lonely Kings played later that night (to significantly fewer people) and upstaged the shit outta them. File under: Alkaline Trio, Movielife, Divit, other boring post-melodic hardcore rock bands.

I've heard the references to Jawbreaker before, when it comes to this band. I have to say that they couldn't touch Jawbreaker. Actually they aren't nearly as good as any of the bands you mentioned in your review. I have this Cd as well as the ep tricks and dreams, both are average at best. I was expecting more rock from theses guy after "chase the sun" on the adeline comp. which is great. Bottom line : It's not bad, but don't waste your money.
