With my black cardigan sweater and converse on, I felt in place to be at a Dashboard Confessional show. Too bad I left my black rim glasses at home. There were actually more trendy high school kids than anything else, but that’s the crowd Dashboard appeals most to. It was cold waiting in line to enter and I was afraid of dying before I was even able to see the show. That would have sucked because the show was exhilarating. Hmmmm no one here is actually well rounded..."i can only listen to fast as fuck punk rock." Didn't see this show or anything, but I agree, bands should never open with a cover, unless of course, they are a cover band. Am I the only out there that likes Dashboard Confessional but DOESN'T like Ben Kweller? if by every, you mean a few... then yes every band stops to let people sing. every band stops and lets people sing along i cant believe some people can say this guy writes good lyrics. they are so horrible. you guys are fucking so lame. i attened the show in phoenix az, for free of course, who would of payed for that show. i think dashboard is so lame.there are so many people that did what he used to do, play the acoustic guitar and sing, soo sooo much better then he does and did. you know what he needs, a hit single on mtv, oh wait he has that, cos all you yuppies buy his lame cds.the anniversary is amazing. they have rocked and continue to rock and are very very original. they used to be who knows what, and now they are crazy hippies that look like they smoke a lot of pot. thats awesome.there sound and talent has improved so much since the beginning, and most of you are to into horrible horrible music to realize. good!that would make us equally cool, and all of you know if you like shit music your not as cool as the people you see backstage making fun of mr carrabba.yuck it up, fuckers, the only reason im on this site is cos buddyhead doesnt update. i like dashboard. The person below mentioned they like DBC because its fast-paced and emotionally charged? If you think DBC is fast-paced, does that make the Get Up Kids the emo equivalant of Motorhead? i personally love legends and anniversary and dbc. not as much as hot water music and BR, but we'll see how well they hold up , as BR show is on thursday this week, and then DBC is on saturday. This has to be one of the worst line ups I've personally ever seen commented on. The worst part is that this scumfuck actually enjoyed it. I don't know what's happening to the Anniversary. I saw them in October of 2000 and they were wonderful; good stage presence, played their insturments well, etc. I saw them last October and they were horrible. Superdrag blew them out of the water (if only because it looked like the boys in Superdrag were having a good time). I think the new Anniversary record is wonderful and I'm very happy to see them grow as a band, but...if they don't start acting like they like to play...if they continue to stand up there, give mediocre performances, and act like they don't have the best job in the world (all the while telling private jokes to the audience and snickering to their crew), they'll quickly lose the support of everyone who realizes how talented they are. well put....but emo still blows You know what ruins great bands? People that use the term emo and pop punk and punk and post punk and indie and emocore and skacore. The only reason I go to "punk" web sites like these is because I happen to like emotionally charged fast paced rock music. Punks are self absorbed ignorant teens that are going through their rebellion stage. Dashboard Confessional is a great band that puts on a good show, and to anyone who has actually seen them live and not just on MTV2, then you know what I mean. You can't deny the band has talent no matter how much your ignorant mind thinks so. In fact, you people are so stuck on your punk and emo bands that you don't realize half of them are eating straight from the hands of some of the most evil corporations in the world! That's right folks! Corporations! Evil ones! Corporations that constructed the computer that you are typing on to get back at me right now! It's true! So I have an idea, why don't we like music because of how we like it and now whether the band makes sub $2,000 a year. Dashboard Confessional is not filthy rich, they are a smart band that is living their dream and playing great music. Get off their backs and off the punk bandwagon. emo... carrying the torch dropped by such spectacular bands as Winger and Poison it's a shame nobody locked everyone inside and set the venue on fire I'm serious. Should reviews of obviously horrible shows litter this page, or should my reviews (nuggets of musical genius) allow to be peppered as divive influence in each and everyone's life? I think the latter. erg..... Chris Cabbera should have stayed in Further Seems Forever, 5X better then dashboard confessional. And further isnt even that good. I saw the Dashboard confessional video on MTV and i would have rather watched crappy sum 41 then that. Pure grade a crap, i give it a 2 for the respect for the Dashboard fans and the good review. Did Chris sing "Wicked Games"???? emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo gay emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo emo Once again, I will say it. You guys don't know what emo is. And saying that The Anniversary isn't emo anymore? Um, they never were. Sorry bud. And he Get Up Kids stopped being even remotely emo 4 years ago, so I guess the crying was done then. You stubborn jackasses. i'm not a huge dashboard fan but i have a good time at the shows. and i'm not some screaming 15 year old who goes to one concert every six months ok. and i think bluegrass music is pretty alright. I didn't even have to read this review or go to this concert to know that it sucked. Emo is for uptight fanboys. Fuck you! I'm not one to generally criticize people on what they're into but that review makes all those bands that were mentioned sound lame as hell.. I don't know anything about the Legends of the Rodeo, so I can't say. But I did have the unfortunate pleasure of seeing Ben Kweller in November when he opened up for Sense field and Unfortuantly Mr. Da$hboard Confe$$ional. That kid a) couldn't play his guitar correctly decent review of a horrible band. a man singing while playing an acoustic guitar is new?! I saw the show in Phoenix, AZ. and although it wasnt terrible i thought it was the worst dashboard confessional show i've ever seen. do you guys remember when he would just play by himself w/ an accoustic guitar??? he now plays with a full band..thats not too bad, but for half of this show he played with a full band and an electric guitar. what is up with that?? what made dashboard confessional-dashboard confessional is that he was something kind of new. now that he is playing electric its just another vagrant emo band. i was fully disappointed along with all of my friends. i think he should stick to accoustic and drop that electric guitar crap..unless hes trying to satisfy new audiences i dont know what the heck is up with his thought process. especially since he is now starting to get big..whatever..as far as i could tell he is losing a lot of old fans and gaining a lot of trendy ones. Yea, I was at the first show in Ft Worth. About Legends of Rodeo: they used to be called The Recess Theory, and they were pretty much indie rock emo. They did a split w/ Further Seems Forever, then released an lp. Then they became LOR and released another ep of indie/emo rock. Apparently now, they are rock and roll, so I was a bit suprised at the show. It's kinda cool though, since their singer's voice is very un-rock, so it's kinda refreshing. I picked up the 3 song sample cd after the show and it is pretty good. I still wish they were indie/emo though (download some stuff from them-"philadelphia or reading" is a good song, also "checklist before chicago" if you can't find philadelphia or reading, do a search for further seems forever and download the song "don't know"- its really a recess theory song.) And yea, Ben Kweller was awesome, he opened with an acoustic emotional rendition of "ice ice baby" the Anniversay were really good, and of course Dashboard. I'm not too thrilled about the new songs though(electric guitar?....) Really good show though, and he ended with Bitter Pill, which he rarely plays. Word. Ben Kweller was the lead singer of a grungy band called Radish. Got theyre album its actuall pretty damn good, guess i should check out their new stuff! It can get cold in San Diego. This particular venue is located on a beach which tends to cool down quite a bit at night. It was also windy which didnt help. Just out of curiousity, does anyone know if the Anniversary is playing anything off the Superdrag split? I love that split, all 6 of those songs are sooo good. I think you are pretty wrong about The Anniversary there buddy. They played new songs, cause they have a new album. how cold does it get in san diego? jesus.. was it 60 or something? good review though. helped me to decide if i want to go or not. MY least favorite part of a dashboard confessional show is that it's wussy indie rock and it makes a bunch of high school girls think they're "punk" have you ever heard of having fun? I saw ben kweller on the carson daily show about 2 weeks ago.... i was really suprised with his piano playing, very ben folds style, but still amazing.. after the piano he played a song with his band that wasnt as great though. My least favorite part of a Dashboard Confessional concert is the fact he stops and lets people sing along. I went to see Dashboard Confessional sing, not a bunch of high school girls. |
