So there's this new album from Anti-Flag. There are eight new tracks followed by eight live tracks of songs from their four previous albums. I'm sure we've all heard about Anti-Flag at one point or another during the last year or so. For fans that have followed the band since their older albums, it's amazing to see a band with this message become so popular in today's punk scene where melody, hooks, and personal lyrics run rampant. But that's just the thing- Anti-Flag has melody, they have hooks, but their message of unity, rebellion, and individuality is somewhat of a minority. You fuckers that do this shit just make me fucking sick. This is punk-rock, we need to unite and make a god-damn purpose rather than fighting eachother. As far as the album goes...its good stuff. Buy this album now. I saw these guys at the warped tour and these guys are fukin great. i think they were one of the best bands there and they have songs about the real problems and dont just whine or brag about their girlfriends like so many other bands out there so if any1s going to bad mouth them just stop urself and realli listen to the words in their songs...that should make u think twice Fucking this album owns down... i've always kinda thought of anti-flag as propagandhi junior. i still like them though, even if they do try a bit hard at times. just bought this album today. listened to it once so far. it's okay. Fucken amazing! "Anatomy of your enemy" is so fucking true. Fuck systematic brainwashing of entire states! against me are on that sampler, they kick alot of ass I thought Mobilize was pretty good, not their best but good. Personally my favorite AF song is "bring out your dead"........Anyway i wanted to talk about the sampler that came with the cd. It's pretty freakin awesome. Yes to whoever said that, Pipedown is cool but way better live i think. I saw them at the mobilize for peace tour in SF, along with Anti-Flag (duh), Virus Nine (Freakin awesome, check them out), Against all Authority, and Thrice (one of my favorites). Now THAT was an awesome show. Relatively small place, good vibes all around. One of those shows where you've got 7 people helping you up before you even hit the ground. Good stuff. Anyway....another really good band on the sampler is "Against Me!" Get some of their songs, they are awesome as well. Sorry for babbling just wanted to give people some more bands to check out. Remember guys we're all the same so theres no use in arguing. If another guy doesnt think like you dont try to influence his judgement or make him wrong. Influencing someone else to be like you, no matter how cool, right, justified, fair you may be, is JUST as bad as them brainwashing you. Good example: Pressuring someone to be straight edge is as bad as pressuring someone to do drugs. Make love not war. Erik has just proved his genius is beyond explanation. The album fuckin rocks! Saw them in Montreal in April and I have never been to a show like it. The pit was intense and the feeling of unity was insane. The best part was most of the crowd was over 19!! Im sick of going to shows these days that used to be dominated by the 20 and over crowd and finding a bunch of trendy bitches and boys that aren't even 16 and are just there for something to do. I know musics for everyone but its pretty bad when you go to get another beer at the bar and you hear chicks complianing that its to ruff and people are bumping into them.-- its a fucking punk show you idiot, what the fuck do you expect!!!!! fell down the tubes after Andy Flag left. Lost their personality and variety that made them a very interesting band. Mundane. Rehashed. Trite. Blah. Banana. look who just reviewed it "notquiteaspunk as shut the fuck up you idiot". you just gotta die for the goverment and watch us be punk rock! I just bought the A-F sampler yesterday, (didn't feel like 15$ more for Mobilize... not that I don't like Anti-Flag, I'm just a little bored of them right now) and I must say it is pretty damn good. Is it just me or do Pipedown fucking rule? Can't wait to find a full length from those guys. I personally own this CD and as I've listened to it for about two months now. And I would to say some things to the Flag-Humping idiots out there. I really like Anti-Flag. I think they are a great "intro to politics in music" band. They don't go too deep into their politics, which allows some kids easy access to them, as they don't know that much. And I can vouch for their live show, it's fucking amazing, and the last one I went to was non-smoking (it rocked my socks!). I have to say there are bands that do the politics better, but they aren't as accessible music-wise as these guys are. They do a damn good job I think, and have a lot of soul behind them. The only thing that pissed me off here is 'Brick by brink, wall by wall' line in Mumia's song, that reminds me of propagandhi's Bullshit politicians ...and another song, 'Right to choose', has similar lyrics to propagandhi's 'homophobes are just angry coz they can't get laid'... Song writing doesn't just pertain to lyrics you dumb shit. I'm talking about the musical structure. "it's clear that they are some of the best songwriters out there." You should be hanged and shot. "Gotta die for your country that's shit!" is not good songwriting. first..justin's name is justin sane not justin insane... I like anti-flag, but this was definitely not thier best. They only took like 2 months to record and write the thing right after the sept. 11 tradgedy. I don't think they gave all the effort they could have in the record. Anti-Flag has really passed their prime long ago. I mean, DIE FOR THE GOVERNMENT is a good album, and it deteriorates each album from that, until you get a really boring album like Underground Network. Cliche liberalisms and boring music. There were maybe 2-3 OK songs on tht album. I didn't listen to Mobilize, but it looks like most the live tracks are off Underground Network anyhow. I mean, the thing is fucking called MOBILIZE. How horribly lame can you get? Did they just decide to take the first term off whatever anti-globalism flyer they could find? I hate the word mobilize. AHHHHHH. so for all the people who talk about how amazing anti-flag are for their politics have you really learned anything at all. I personally find that people who claim to like "political" bands know nothing about politics. so my main point is anti flag is all fine and dandy but try actually learning about politics and corruption, read any book by Noam Chomsky (that's not one of his essay's on lingustics, particulary you should read What Uncle Sam really wants), Read Steal This Book by Abie Hoffman, or The Wretched of the Earth etc...... luˇcid Pronunciation Key (lsd) Ohh god,here comes the "I hate Anti-Flag" people. Grow up you stupid peaces of shit. I think those fifteen year olds are more smarter and more mature than you "older" 20 year olds. You listen to your love songs and then you cap on bands with a good, positive message. Then you say how unoriginal they are... fuck you not many bands even go further into social things like Anti-Flag. Well I think ive heard a lot more of those love song "punk" groups than a social and political group. Why? Because they will make money like that and they will get all the groupies. I also hate when people call the members of anti-flag fags or they say instead of anti-flag it should be anti-fag. Why would you even say that offensive homophobic word. Anti-flag are humanitarians and they actually care for people and they stand up against anything degrading to a person and that includes gays. That dosen't make them gay but if they are who cares, its only a sexuality. Sexuality dosent make how a person will act or think. So you Anti-flag haters just stop posting on the reviews of Anti-flag because if you dont like them then why are you wasting your time posting something stupid that people wont even take seriously. Instead go close your mind somewhere else and listen to your stupid Guttermouth. The second cd is an AF Records sampler. Anti-Flag kicks ass too, they stand up for what they believe in and don't take shit from anyone because of their beliefs. When was the last time you've seen the The Starting Line or Yellowcard be positive and support just causes? You haven't. They suck and are the most generic, unoriginal, cookie-cutter bands, just like every other pop "punk" band out there. oh well, just a rant. listen to what you want. It is a 2 cd set. The 2nd cd is a sampler of bands on Anti-Flags's new record label "A-F Records". Overall this is a definite buy just for the new songs, the old ones are still classics too. This is alot better than all that other bullshit that is on the market at least. With all these pointless/ ignorant bands with their "monosylobic names followed by a number" its great we still have punk with a meaning. It's not their fault they weren't born earlier and can't drive yet. Fuck off elitist. Lots of people have relevant things to say. But I'd rather not hear it said over played out watered down wannabe 77 punk. And just because you don't have a band doesn't mean you can't make valid musical criticisms. who cares if thier not completely orginal or with fat they have a something to say relevent to our times, plus it looks like thier having a good time why don't you start yr own bands and enjoy yrself too...or would that be to progressive? .grow up kiddies. This band is like mixing The Sex Pistols in with the entire fat wreck catalog and coming out with generic shit. and that song 911 for peace is painful to listen to if only because of the third grade lyrics. Opps, meant to give that a half star, not 5. Garbage. I have never heard a more unoriginal band in my life. Everything they do is recycled and completely uninteresting. I will never understand why they are so popular. I'm glad they have political lyrics, but it can't make up for their boring and generic music. This was totally worth the 9.99 I paid for it. Nobody even mentioned the most hilarious shinanigance at the end of the cd. That made it all worth the cash spent. Anti-Flag doin "Cause I Got High", just a little more than irony there for ya. Even the story about the house destruction party was interesting. Got a little bored with the middle of the album, but the beginning and end were pretty solid. No complaints, I've heard better live recordings, but a lot more that have been shit. Anti-Flag fucking rules. I dont know the band like incredibly well but after I saw them at Warped 2000 I have become a huge fan. I really like this new album, I think 911 for Peace is an amazing song. But, girlgerms, if someone doesnt like Anti-flag then let them not like Anti-flag. I am sure there are a lot of bands that people like and you dont and a lot of bands you like that other people dont. I agree that the comments most of the time are stupid but let them voice their opinion its not hurting you and, if i have learned anything from you, it is wrong to let someone take away your freedom of speech. Anti flag have done some fucking awesome songs like 'red white and brainwashed'(all you's!) and 'die for the government' and 'kill the rich', fucking hell some awesome shit.
