Ahhh NOFX. What more can be said about this legendary band that brought snotty, delinquent fun back to punk rock. Uhhh, a lot. Their latest release "45 or 46 songs that weren't good enough to go on our other records" is a two disc set that contains a bunch of rare songs, b-sides, comp tracks, and both the "Fuck the Kids" and "Surfer" 7"s. Most hardcore NOFX fans probably own all of this stuff, but for the casual fan (me), this is perfect. I don't own a record player and I don't have the time or money to hunt down all of these songs, so naturally, I was quite excited to hear that NOFX would be releasing all of this shit in a nice convenient package. The first disc has all of the b-sides, rare songs, comp tracks etc. on it. I won't go into describing what it all sounds like because unless you've been living under a rock for the past decade, you know what NOFX sounds like. All i can say is I loved just about every song on here (with the possible exception of the Eat the Meek dub mix). Don't let the album title fool you, these songs are actually really good and I wonder why some were left off of their full-lengths. There is a really old 47 second hardcore song on here from back in '87 called "Punk Song" that's surprisingly good (in a speedy, thrashy way). Also there's an even older track (hidden after the last song) from their first demo way back in '84 called "Thalidomide Child" that's... uhhh... not so good. Still it's kinda enjoyable listening to a young NOFX (they were 16 when they put out the song) play some rough sloppy hardcore. All in all there are 22 songs of punkrock goodness on the 1st disc. Click here for the complete track listing. Now for the 2nd disc. This is the one with "Surfer" and "Fuck the Kids" 7"s on it. Let me explain (to the uninitiated) what these little gems previously only available on vinyl are. Well, NOFX basically got a little tired of the sterile, overproduced punk and decided to go into the studio for a day or two and play fast, sloppy punk songs that were written in about 10 minutes each. Fat Mike tells the guys in the band how a song goes and then they bust it out. The first take of each song they actually made it to the end of, they kept. The result? "Fuck the Kids" was born. Speedy, catchy, raw, sloppy, hilarious punk made the way it once was. Then about 4 years later, they decided to pull the same stunt and ended up with another great 7" titled "Surfer" (with a hilarious cover parodying "Suffer"). All of the songs are really great. They aren't masterpieces, but they are truly enjoyable. Loud, sloppy punk at it's finest. There are a few songs where NOFX manages to capture their early hardcore days. Great stuff. Oh and did I mention how funny some of these songs are? Just reading their titles is enough to make you crack a smile. "Fun Things to Fuck", "Can't Get the Stink Out", "Puke on Cops", and "I Gotta Pee" are bound to make you laugh. There are also plenty of interesting things being said by the band before, after, and even during the songs. Fat Mike really shows his talent in making hilariously irreverent punk here. A nice thick booklet also comes with this release. It contains humorous descriptions of each song and some great liner notes all done by Fat Mike. This booklet is almost worth the purchase alone. There are lyrics to every song, lots of great pictures, and enough of Fat Mike's smartass comments to make any NOFX fan happy. I actually laughed out loud at some of Mike's various musings. He really is a funny guy. So is all of this really worth it to the casual NOFX fan? Without a doubt it is. You wouldn't want to miss out on this impressive wealth of unheard NOFX. What about to the hardcore fan who already has all of these songs? I still say yes. They put all of this shit together in one convenient package with an awesome booklet to boot. Plus you can listen to those rad 7"s in your car now. Oh yeah, the thing costs the same as a single CD so you don't have to worry about the price. So what the fuck are you waiting for? Go smash into your local record store and steal this thing before everyone else does.

yeah!! i like it "This album is good, but it's not NOFX's best work." This album is hilarious plenty of songs all with humor. To mr nofx is hardly punk: A) If u dont think there punk dont go to the website B) nofx is the punk band right now even if the couldnt stop Bush from getting reelected This album is a favorite of mine. It is in a sense a cover cd because nofx plays so many songs in so many styles. Eat the Meek and Where we dont belong resemble the reggae punk of the Clash, Fuck The Kids is somwhat similar to bands like Bad Brains on the East Coast and The Germs on the West. The other songs are just a collage of nofx greatness To the guy who was disappointed by this comp, the band themselves obviously don't think these are their best songs either, hence the title. Douche. haha then get over it you fucking tool. nofx could kick your and blink 182's sorry asses. good but i dident like there diss on blink 182 in the song fun things to fuck. good !!!!!! good!!!!good!!!! YEAH!YEAH;YEAH;YYEEAAHH!!!!! very good album, all songs are catchy but the punkyer songs are the best, check out the special features on the pc they are great to hmmm. i didnt care for this album at all, i think that the guys had nothin left so they just put a bunch of shit onto one album, i was pretty disapointed Thats a really perfect album!!! This album is good, but it's not NOFX's best work. True it has more variety than your average LP but that doesn't mean it's very good. Not that I don't like the songs but "Pimps and Hookers", "Olive Me", "Timmy the Turtle" and "We ain't shit" are average. There are some definate gems here, "We threw..." and "Drugs are good" are both amazing NOFX songs and the "Punk Song" from '87 kicks as well. I'm personally a fan of "Pods and Gods" but don't think it was put in the right order on this album. That's what we really need fuck yes. i picked this up today for 12 bucks. i was exicted just to get the 46 tracks,rare ones too. bonus the big booklet inside,lyrics, stories, pics, hate mail. labels need to put bigger booklets inside. I waited for this CD for so long that when it finally came out I'd become pretty blase about it. It still was good, don't get me wrong, but I already had the good songs so I guess I didn't get fully into it like all the other NOFX albums. The booklet is awesome though and I'd still recommend it to everyone, but don't be surprised if you're over it in about 3 days-or maybe its just me? 3 reasons i don't own a record player: Shit, I am 20 and I love NOFX. If I am correct he was 13 when he recorded with False Alarm in 1983. how old are the boys in nofx now outta intrest? I was gonna burn it from my friend cause i'm burning him a copy of goldfinger, but I may just buy it for the book at least. The booklet for the nofx/rancid split was great! A fun and energetic band live- but their music annoys me otherwise. yeah a handful of the tracks are on the punk-o-rama's but who the fuck wants to buy all of those to get the songs. sure they're only 5 bucks but that's because they suck. there are only a handful of decent epitaph bands the other 10 million all sound the same. This two albums are awesome.... With this release nofx shows how revolutionary and influencial they truly are. The first cd is fucking amazing,it just blew me away.. The first song pimps and hookers (which is new),it's a really good,then it continues with other amazing songs. The second cd is obviously less melodic and has a hardcore-old school punk vibe to it. This cd is my favorite out of the two because it's never boring and the lyrics are really good,standout:making fun of blink 182. I search for meaning from punk bands who arent ashamed that they know shit about shit. Like me. When i dont find it i smile because true punk kniws shit but sings about it. Anyway the first disc is ok with some good songs but if you have heard any of the songs before youll be skipping a lot. The 2nd disc is where its at. "I gotta Pee" is the best song ever. But seriously nofx....if your gonna release a cd of sucky songs not already released dont release songs that people can easily find on your neighborhoods punk o rama. The fact that fat mike left off some shit and said it at the end of the booklet pisses me off. I dont know i sound stupid. Anyway Grr buy this for the 2nd disc. yup, vincent is on there. that song is awesome. NOFX is immature... good. Thats what they do best. Smart songs with hidden meaning that use poo poo and caca jokes to get an important message across. Of course there is also the ones that are just poo poo and caca jokes... period. But you cant help but laugh at them. They are an incredible band and I put this album near the top of the NOFX album list. Love this CD. Is their cover of "Vincent" on this disc? I love their cover of that song. What the fuck are you talking about?? I couldn't have been more general with my description of the booklet. Plagiarized my ass... Great album but terrible review. For those that don't have the album yet (and therefore haven't read the booklet), this person totally plagiarized the whole thing. For shame. great cds, excellent booklet, funny picture of fat mike with a devil lock, but what a stupid cover! immature? me thinks so... This record is definitely worth the $15 it cost. The best track on the FIRST DISC is "Thalomide Child", it was recorded when they were only 16 and it kicks ass. The Best song on the SECOND DISC is "Fuck the kids (Revisited)" it is hilarious. it's in chapter 34, 2nd paragraph, 3rd sentence. check it out if you don't believe me. and you call yourself punk... so why is being immature a bad thing, i missed that rule in the punk rule book While you thought people care about what you have to say, I was having sex with a little boy Hey, its got "Last Caress" on it, a great Misfits cover that was on an amazing Misfits comp. Good for NOFX. Great album. Just one remark though: I don't hear a difference between the dub mix of eat the meek and the original. Maybe it's me, but can someone tell me how this song is different? yes, NOFX are immature and commercial and sell outs and crap and underground and true to punk and awesome and write smart songs. What less could not you want. nofx sucks. they are so immature and they are sell outs. i'm 20 and i listen to NOFX. hell, my 25 year old brother still listens to NOFX. it's good music. THis is to the guy named "WYZO". personally im glad they put the vinyl stuff on here, i really cant afford to collect vinyl, even through i would like too, so this is cool for the fans that want to hear it but dont want to get into collecting. "All of me" or "Olive Me" as its been called is a cover. This CD is definitely worth it for those of you that don't have a CD burner. I bought it mainly for the booklet, Surfer, and Fuck the Kids. The fact it even has a new tune (Pimps and Hookers) is cool too. Plus, if you order it through Fat, it's only $10. How can you beat that?! I'm 22, almost 23, and I still like NOFX. NOFX is not just for the teens dammit. Well at least I don't have to listen to all my comps one at a time for nofx anymore. I love it when nofx puts out side albums like this, it just makes me giggle like a school girl. I don't know why the album is titled "....weren't good enough to go on our other albums", seriously, these are some of the best songs they ever recorded. Who threw the gasoline...., all of me, bath of least resistance, and zyclone b. bathhouse are some of my personal favorite nofx songs of all time. This is defintely a must have album. Great great disc, definately worth your cash, and it contains THE BEST NOFX SONG (besides the decline): Pump up the Valuum. good review man, and just to put in my two cents, I think the best NOFX album is "I heard they suck live", I've never met another person who agrees with me, but even so, I like it best because it takes almost all the good songs from their classic album's like White trash and Punk in Drublic, and it punks them up more, makes the words dirtier, speeds em up and shit, and their stage banter is hilarious, if you don't own it check that out, but you never know, maybe I just like that one best cuz I've had it the longest oh man i hate how everyone says punk in drublic is there best, i really hate it. but everyone has different tastes cause i like heavy petting zoo the best and not just cause the cover. later. oh and good review, this cd rules. if you aren't into NOFX, i would recommend getting "Punk in Drublic". i think most people would agree that is their best record. if you can't get that for some reason, try "White Trash, Two Heebs, and a Bean", their 2nd best record. if you can't get either of those, i would definitely recommend this. my question is... is this cd worth it for someone who hasn't heard any nofx? I dont mind NOFX, so this isnt to bash them on some bizarre grounds of ranking or social posturing, but I really didn't think this disc was necessary. Its two discs and theirs really only an EP worth of decent stuff and of that EP's worth, its mainly covers and short little dittys that are good, not really worth buying over a legitimate release by another band. actually, that eat the meek dub mix has really grown on me. i wish i didn't say that shit in the review now. o well. I'm 18 and i fucking love this band i'll bet i'd like this if i was 12. I love people that get CDs for promos and then trade them in before it comes out. Here in Australia, the price for this CD is $37...I went to buy it this morning and was like $15 short...damn. Damn, now thats how a review should be written. I think I have pretty much every track on this album, but I think I might buy it just for the sake of having it all together, and I'm sure the booklet is nifty.
