Josh Freese, David Minehan round out new Replacements lineup

Word has gotten out regarding the replacements (Eh? Eh?) for the upcoming Replacements reunion gigs at Riot Fest in Toronto, Chicago and Denver. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that drummer Josh Freese (The Vandals, Nine Inch Nails, Devo and a million other bands) and guitarist David Minehan (The Neighborhoods) will join Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson for the performances. Both musicians toured and performed with Westerberg in the '90s during his early solo days.

In addition, Westerberg's manager Darren Hill tells the Tribune that there are no plans for more Replacements shows after these performances as of right now. The Replacements kick off their reunion at Riot Fest Toronto next weekend, the continue to Chicago on Sept. 15 and Denver on Sept. 21. Westerberg and Stinson initially reunited earlier this year for the Songs For Slim project, a limited edition covers EP to benefit 'Mats guitarist Slim Dunlap as he recovers from a stroke.
