Warcon launches video for "Happy Christmas (War is Over)"

Warcon has posted the first video from their Taste of Christmas compilation. The record was released on November 1st will includes bands such as The Used, Funeral For A Friend, Emery, Skindred, Like Yesterday, Gatsbys American Dream and others.

The video is for a track by Street Drum Corps featuring Bert McCraken of the Used. The band is covering John Lennon's classic song, "Happy Christmas (War is Over)." McCracken also directed and performed in the video. The 25th anniversary of the legendary Beatles' death is December 8th of this year.

I know it's the guy from the Used and everyone who is even vaguely cool hates them, but this is a fairly faithful cover. If Bert had decided to start screaming in the middle of the song, I'd be right on board with the criticism, but this is just a fairly decent tribute disguised as a cover.

I'd be more down with it if Bert started screaming, honestly. I think when covering a band, you should make it your own, and while I have very little knowledge of the Street Pan hoodlums or whatever it is, I definitley think that this song could have interesting things done with it that aren't just simply replaying it note for note with some jangling chains. That's what saves the Tony Hawk soundtrack from completely absurdity is that most bands at least made the songs "their own".

Worchester, or Wartown as your buddy may refer to it as, is pretty crappy. It's Mass's 2nd biggest city. All the crime and delapitated buildings of Boston with none of it's historical value. The paladium is a decent place to see shows though. Good times. You are alright man.

yea, he called it Wartown and 'The W', which always made me wanna hit him. i've been there a couple times, my cousin went to Holy Cross back in the day. don't remember too much. can';t say i ever saw a show there. Boston actually has the least annoying Massholes, its the kids that rep Boston even though they live by NH that annoy the piss out of me.

Is anybody with me in thinking that the south park christmas cd (and the episode from season 3) is the best christmas cd ever, and has surprising longevity? I still love that cd, and when i think about it, it was released 6 years ago. Every single song is great, and the originals are just awesome. What's everybodys favorites from that cd?
