Third streaming track from Less Than Jake EP

Another track from the upcoming EP from Less Than Jake has been released online. The track, "The Rest Of My Life" appears on Absolution for Idiots and Addicts which was release today. It is also schedule to appear on their upcoming full length, Out With the In Crowd. This song appeared online once previously as well.

The new releases follow the band's 2003 Warner debut, Anthem. That album was followed by the B-Sides compilation, B is for B-Sides and DVD, A People's History of Less Than Jake, both released in 2004.

you mean they might want to consider NOT RELEASING this new album altogether. because it's a fucking slap in the face to their fans, as well as their own horn section. i can't believe i'm saying this, but fuck this new shit, it's awful. -phdecontrol

go back and listen to pezcore, there are a few songs on there without horns and they have continued to so that throughout their career so its not like its new to mess around with no horns. you can't really expect them to release the same record over and over without growing a bit. personally i think its great that they are trying something new as opposed to just doing the same thing forever (mustard plug). if it works for them it works, if not they can always consider it a learning experience and make another losing streak

This song is actually interesting at least. Marks a change that isn't just pro-tooling their sound. Anthem was so overproduced it still makes me sad thinking about it. That said, it must be the easier job in the world to play horns in LTJ these days...

10 years ago if you asked me who my favorite band is, without hesitation I would have answered "Less Than Jake." At that time, I never would have thought that band was capable of producing material like this. This album is the musical equivalent of finding out your girlfriend is a dude.

There's nothing wrong with this song at all.... the verses are pretty sweet and kind of lead you up to a chorus.. but when the chorus comes, it's like, eh.... a really good hook would have made this song awesome. I like hearing LTJ record a song like this.

I remember he got us tickets to the Skins/Cowboys game in 03' at FedEx......where we proceeded to whoop your asses the whole rainy day. I had a personalized Dallas jersey on and was amazed I made it out in one piece, based on my level of intoxication. That said, you made fools of us this year, twice, so I'll shut up now... they said something similar on their 2005 spring tour! that was...a year ago. they played 2 new songs at that show (one was 'still life franchise' the only good new song i've heard so far) and another one w/ ska and horns in it. it got me so pumped. then i heard they were going w/ the dude who produced rockview and i got more stoked. i really thought this was going to be a return to classic ska punk ltj, but man...'overrated' sounds like a bad bowling for soup song, and the 2 others i heard (including this one) are just...'meh'....not ska punk...not a return to the old school style...i dont get it. did they change their minds between last springs tour and the summer whne the wrote the new album? i really was lead to believe based on what chris said at that show that they were going ska punk again. fuck. in any case i loved anthem/b is for b sides...so i haven

Anthem pretty much made me think "OK, I'm done buying LTJ albums," but I ended up buying B Is For B-Sides and was pleasently surprised/brought me back into a state of anticipation for more material from them. With each of the streams from the new album so far though, I will absolutely not purchase their next album. As cheesy and generic as their music has always been, it's always had energy... the new stuff is empty. Vinnie must've been listening to the Yellowcard EP he put out on FBR for inspiration on the new release.

I bought the non-album tracks off iTunes and they are much better than any of these streams. They actually have horns and could be considered to be LTJ songs, as opposed to the emo songs they have been releasing. It's time to get off the major label and choose your own tracklisting. The same thing happened with Anthem. Too many of the best songs from those recording sessions ended up on B is for B-Side.

amen. ive said it many times, 'anthem' coudl have been on par with rockview had the tracks been selected better. how 'bridge and tunnel authority' and 'portrait of a smoker' didnt make the cut, yet 'shes gonna break soon' and some of the other weaker tracks did is beyond me. its their own fault for not releasing through FBR. no major is going to pick ska tunes over emo tunes to make the final cut, not in 2006. not even in 2001. paul

you know what? There is so much hate for LTJ's new material that it's pretty ridiculous. If you dont want to hear their new material, then don't download it. It's for the fans who love LTJ, not ammunition for some assface to start writing up stupid comments on them. If you want to take out some anger on a band, go to the FOB boards. LTJ is one of the raddest bands out there and they always will be. So what if they are trying something different. Are they recording tracks to please YOU? I doubt it. Fuck the haters. I love their new material

That argument itself is overdone, though. People can say their opinions, sure, but the manner in which they go about it can be uncalled for. "Fuck, this is shit! Where the hell are the horns? Fuck this band!" Why in the world would you have to state your opinion like that? And people do. Just say, "hey, I don't like this." Maybe say why you don't like it. That's all we need to hear. We don't need people shitting all over the band.
