Isis detail "In the Absence of Truth"

Isis have announced some more details about their upcoming full-length, In the Absence of Truth, which is also their first multi-word album title since 1999's The Red Sea. Due out October 31st on Ipecac, the album was recorded with producer/engineer Matt Bayles.

The record is the follow up to their 2004 release, Panopticon. Last year, the band also issued the domestic release of Oceanic: Remixes and Reinterpretations.

In anticipation of the new record, the band will be hitting the road with Tool with the first date on that tour.

I think the tracklisting is incorrect. The song Dulcinea , which was just released to the internet from the album isn't even there.

This album will be amazing.

Oh man. I can taste the tangy anticipation building up in my throat! But how am I gonna breathe? And tang gets old after it hangs out in your mouth for weeks! I can't even taste chocolate through this! This is bullshit right here.

"Someone" is bummed about not seeing these guys with Tool, but I'll be damned if I pay 60 bucks for an hour-and-a-half set by the latter when they'll likely do a full-fledged tour next year. I'd rather see a full set by Isis in close quarters and save a few 10 spots in the process.

Rosetta Stoned is by far the best track on 10k Days, and maybe among the band's top 5 pieces. Agreed?

I've only heard a few Isis tracks, but they reminded me of Neurosis. Can anyone reccomend a good first Isis CD to pick up?

Oceanic, for sure.

And yes, that comparison is pretty much spot-on, although I prefer Isis immeasurably.

Cool, thanks, I'll pick up Oceanic ASAP. The only Neurosis records I really liked were Through Silver in Blood and the one before it (can't remember the name) but the Isis songs I heard did sound much better.

Isis really is just a much better band than Neurosis (also pick up Isis - Panopticon while you're at it). But seriously, check out Neurosis collaboration with Jarboe. It's just so awesome and weird.

I never really got into Neurosis and Jarboe. But you're right about the weirdness. Awesome is just a tough quality to define.

Yea, and you should get Panopticon too, he's right. If you like them a lot, Celestial is worth having too, although it'd be a stretch to call it essential.

I'm really into Through Silver In Blood and Times Of Grace. "Burn" from The Eye Of Every Storm is one of my favorite songs of all time, period, but I could do without the entire rest of the album.
