The Apples In Stereo join Elijah Wood's Simian Records

Indie rock act the Apples In Stereo has signed to Simian Records, a new imprint of Yep Rock Records founded by actor Elija Wood. The band will release their first album in five years, titled New Magnetic Wonder, on February 7th. The band and Lord Of The Rings star hooked up at the SXSW music festival in Austin, TX in 2003. The band had departed from their long time home of spinART at the same time Wood was launching Simian.

New Magnetic Wonder features 14 songs (and 12 musical segues) produced by Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., Ramones, Lemonheads). A enhanced portion of the record will detail the "Non-Pythagorean Scale," a new musical scale invented by Apples vocalist Robert Schneider.

hopefully the record will be more interesting than 3 hours of walking around in mountaintops with occasional confusig-as-hell battle scenes.

HAHA. It's really rewarding to learn that someone (you), whom I generally think is an idiot, thinks the battles are confusing.
Most be tough for you to follow a story line more complicated than "Dick and Jane," huh?

A couple things:

1. Regardless of whether or not the movie was confusing, it was terrible. It really was three hours of hobbits wandering around with a bunch of special effects every now and then.

2. When the remake of Fun with Dick and Jane came out, I was at a movie theater and saw the title of the movie on the big marquee. Apparently there wasn't enough room for "and Jane", so the marquee read: "FUN WITH DICK".

the battle scenes cut from one fight to another to another all of a sudden talking trees get involved and since the movie bored me to the point of tuning it out, i didn't know what the fuck was going on.

I don't care what label this is on or what hobbit "runs" it, I'm just psyched to hear the super happy sounds of Apples in Stereo. This band always puts a smile on my face. Here's to hoping for a tour with Dressy Bessy!

1) that they did the long goodbyes but didnt do the sauramon(sp?) and wormtongue in the shire ending

i saw elijah woods at a sxsw showcase in austin in 2003. he was so wasted he couldnt even stand. he is freakishly pale.
