Hello children of the revolution....The King Khan and BBQ Show are supporting their new In The Red Records release What's For Dinner?. The duo features alumni of Montreal garage punk acts the Spaceshits and Les Sexareenos. BBQ, otherwise known as Mark Sultan, also recently released the debut full length from his punk band Mind Controls via Dirtnap.
we got a phone call a few hours ago from the tour manager of the cobras... he said that they are sick of us and dont want us to continue the tour.... the reason? we missed one show in birmingham cuz our tire popped and it took too long to get it fixed for the show. and then we cancelled one show in florida tonight because our vocal chords are blown out and we needed a day of rest... were the cobras reprimanded for cancelling all sorts of canadian dates and fucking US over? no... these money-grubbing fuckers just dont want the east coast to see us... it's not our fault that we blew away these back-stabbers every night.... what a waste. we have decided to keep the battle going and will book our own shows up the east coast cuz i have to go home to my kids with some dough that was stolen out of my hands by adult babies with broken egos... so all in all please boycott these criminals (who asked us to come on this fuckin tour) and stay tuned in the next few days for an update of our NEW shows....fuck rock star fuckbags.... DEATH CULT UNITE..... beware the soulless vermin....
lots of love and fun

It seems that conflict among former tourmates aren't limited to the screamo scene (or whatever you call it). Montreal garage duo the The King Khan and BBQ Show have reported that they were kicked off their fall tour with the Detroit Cobras. Khan posted the following:

Uh, bad news but I hope they move the tour to somewhere where I can see them now. Sweet.

This is how real men shit-talk their tour mates. None of this "reasoned argument" crap you get from the Atreyu / FFTL fight, just eccentric over-the-top crazyness. 2+ Replies

When I first read the headline I thought it meant they started the tour and the article was just stating this fact. 2+ Replies

The Cobras have not been enamouring themselves to Canadians. Check the Edmonton press for a couple of shows that the Cobras were flown to last year. Appears they were more interested in scoring dope and arguing onstage than playing shows. 3+ Replies

Well, I think KK&BBQ are much better than The Detroit Cobras. There last album, Baby, wasn't that great. Howver, KK&BBQ put out a great debut in 2006, great followup, and Sultan's Mind Controls kick serious. 1+ Reply

What's for Dinner? is flarking good album! It's like the perfect punk/rock n' roll album. I love it even more than their last album. It's been shortlisted to the top of 2006 for this cat.

As much as the Cobras suck, KK&BBQ are about 100 times worse. worst shit ever. garage rock is for old fags who think the MC5 are as good as it's ever gonna get. lame 3+ Replies

the detroit cobras are so ..washed up. how a cover band got so big in the first place,,i'll never know.

Something tells me there is WAY more to this story than a popped tire and some sore vocal chords. King Khan and BBQ are notorious lunatics that always pull all sorts of negatively weird shit at gigs and interviews and the like, and have done so for years. The Detroit Cobras, an incredibly enigmatic rock n roll band with a brilliantly talented singer, should have done their research a little more. Never trust a Canadian band. 1+ Reply

right on King Khan! the tales of the Cobras are legendary, this really isn't surprising, it's just nice to someone say what they really think of them...

KK&BBQ are A-Fucking-Mazing. The Cobras have about 3 listenable songs and now I'm really glad that I downloaded their shit instead of buying it. Long live KK&BBQ!!

I saw King Khan and BBQ when they played in Portland a month or so back. They fucking blew The Detroit Cobras outta the water, this is the way rock was meant to be fucking played! "Whats for Dinner" hasn't left my turntable since. Detroit Cobras just flowed through a mediocre set, as if "business as usual." It was a buzzkill to watch them after Khan and BBQ, I feel fortounate to have gone to the show to discover them! Come back to Portland!! | Features
