With the recent departure of bassist Michael "Spider" Cotterman just before their first headlining tour, The Loved Ones have recruited friends Chris Gonzales and Dave Walsh from The Explosion for bass and guitar respectively.
The tour, which kicks off this week, includes Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer. The band released their debut full length, Keep Your Heart last year. You can enter for a chance to see the tour in Cleveland or Virginia Beach, and receive a copy of the album, along with some other cool stuff, by checking out our Punknews Free Shows and Schwag contest. So they'll be playing with two guitarists now? 6+ Replies

I've only seen them as a four piece and they were pretty good not the best but they had lot of energy and talked with the crowd, so it was solid and two guitars do sound much better.

Anyone hear the new Shins album? Its good, but it sounds as if they are trying way too hard. Like they felt they had to have a different sound for their third album, but only produced listenable pretension. They should have just continued to play nice indie pop. 3+ Replies

i only really listened to this band because they were "ex-kid dynamite." without spider, they're nothing more than an average pop-punk band. 10+ Replies

I've seen the Loved Ones twice and thought they were pretty good each time, they were a three-piece so it will be cool to see them with a second guitarist.

i saw these guys a lot last year, and i think spider is a really good bass player—also, his stage presence balanced out the band in a cool way. i am really sad to see him go.

So WTF happened to the Explosion? First they drop off the Anti-Flag tour, and now two of them tour with some other band. Are they history or what? 1+ Reply
