For real -- the only good song on the new Ozma record is "Eponine," and that was just re-recorded from two albums ago.

I didn't even know it was out already. Well, that sucks.

Yeah, be interesting to see how close to capacity this tour comes in most of the bigger venues. Still, there's a fanbase there. And I'll be at the San Diego show for sure.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, however the last time Copeland was headlining at the House Of Blues they drew something like 700 people on their own. So while I don't expect the show to sell out (like it would at the Beachland), I think it will be reasonably full.

I think there is a lot more to Weezer's "change" between Pinkerton and Green album. Something along the lines of the general public hating Pinkerton, which caused Rivers to want to change the sound completely.

I'm probably the only person on the planet who thinks this, but whatever. While Green isn't as good as the first two weezer albums, I think that it's the closest sounding to the Blue album that they've made.

While it's nice to think that because of the drop off in quality on Green, it has been stated several times that Matt did not have that much influence in the song writing process.

while he may not have had that much influence on the song writing, it could be argued that he did have an influence just by being around, whether it be giving suggestions to certain sounds, or even flat out rejecting some of the slighter numbers that rivers wanted. regardless, we all see that there has been a huge drop in the quality of weezer and while rivers always has control, matt sharp's contribution, just being there is fairly huge. you could look at the output of brian bell and patrick wilson outside of weezer as well, compare that to sharp's work and it's still far inferior. therefore there had to have been some kind of influence from sharp onto weezer that hasn't been released through the weezer camp (and i don't know about you guys, but everything that comes out of the mouths of those around weezer seems quite controlled to me.)

there's no proof to any of this and it is my opinion, but this is what i gather from listening to the work of all of the members through their various bands and sounds. sharp was a positive influence on weezer, and even if it was a slight influence as is told by rivers and whoever else controls the weezer legend, it was one that the band hasn't recovered from since.

Matt had no contribution in Pinkerton. It wasn't until Maladroit I believe that Rivers even started letting any of the other members contribule in any form. He wanted it his way, but his way produced good results. For the issue dealing w/ the green album... b/c of Pinkerton's rejection, Rivers literally went into hiding (black walls, no windows, no internet, no tv, completely cut of from the outside world) for quite a period of time. In his hiatus he wrote an ass-load of songs. For fear of his next album (green) being rejected, he let quite a few people put thier input in on which songs should make the cut. Hence the quality. Yea, nothing in the Weezer world has been as good as "Blue" or "Pinkerton" b/c Rivers relinquished his dictatorship. His stubborn ways almost led to the break up of the band completely. The Tour starts in SF on Aug 1st at the Great American Music Hall. these dates were taken from the musictoday presale page, and GAMH does their own pre-sale. sorry for the confusion.
