Those forecasting the death of the label may be waiting a bit longer, as Radiohead has signed to XL. On the heels of the independent, donation-only release of their new album, In Rainbows, the band struck a deal for the physical release of the record.
A release date for the physical CD has also not been given, but sources suggest it will coincide with the Dec. 3 arrival of the "discbox" edition of "In Rainbows" available only from Radiohead.com. Others speculate it may not appear until next year.

I was under the impression that the deal with XL is for distribution outside the US. Any word on a US version?

In Rainbows just might be their best album. It is seriously fantastic.

It would have been cool to see a band of this magnitude to stay labelless...i'm pretty sure they could have pulled it off, but i do understand that they probably need some significant tour support fundage. oh well | Features
