The Gutter Twins (Screaming Trees, Afghan Whigs) sign to Sub Pop

Sub Pop Records has signed the Gutter Twins and has scheduled a March 4th release for their full length Saturnalia. The band features Mark Lanegan, singer for Seattle's Screaming Trees, and Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli. Both men have been busy as their 90s acts split, with Lanegan releasing solo records, working with Belle & Sebastian singer Isobel Campbell and co-conspiring in several Queens of the Stone Age projects. Dulli has performed with the Twilight Singers, most recently releasing 2006's Powder Burns.

Pre-release performances of the record are scheduled for New York, Paris, London, Amsterdam and San Francisco.

this is exactly what dulli needs to get himself back on track...the last couple twilight releases have been kinda weak compared to blackberry belle. dulli rules though

Dulli is the fucking man and you can't go wrong with Lanegan. I wouldn't agree with the statement about the last couple Singers albums, but to each his own I suppose

blackberry belle just set the bar very high, and i loved what he did with the she loves you stuff, but while powder burns was good, i found it forgettable and the live with me and sublime stuff was just totally lost on me. that and the second time i saw them, this time on the powder tour, was just horrible. very boring, none of his usual charm or showmanship really. wow very cool to have a dulli topic on here

now all my favorite bands are covered on punknews... agreed with blackberry setting the bar incredibly high... while i think both she loves and powder burns and great, i am still drawn to blackberry belle at least weekly...

plus anything lanegan has done has been great...

if only we could get an actually whigs reunoin instead of two good (but not great) songs on an anthology disc...

happy to see this on punknews. the afghan whigs have been my favorite band since i first heard gentlemen almost 15 years ago.

personally i really enjoyed powder burns and I thought they were pretty fantastic when i saw them tour for it. definitely as good as when i saw them out for blackberry.

holy shit, 2 great singers from incredible bands..both on a great label. unless they let pete wentz produce this, they cannot fail.
