Media: Trever Keith: "Melancholics Anonymous"

Former Face to Face frontman Trever Keith has posted a full stream of his new album, Melacholics Anonymous. The album is also available to purchase as a download for five dollars. Keith has eschewed the typical label set up and is instead offering the album online through his website or as a limited edition CD sold at live shows. The formats offered are FLAC, MP3@160kbps, or AAC@128kbps. Both the streaming player and download link can be found here.

Trever Keith previously announced the first few dates of the tour he's planning for his new material.

Yeah, it'd be nice is those labels were on there. Still tons of great stuff on emusic though. I use it mostly to branch out and try new genres and stuff since I generally buy tangible versions of the stuff from those labels.

I was going to complain about the album name, but he's giving it away for free so I can't really say much. I can name it whatever I want on my hard drive. I'm going to call it "Mommy's Little Monster".

I remember reading an interview back then where russ talked shit about them...something about them being wannabes and fake...

Russ is right. I knew Face to Face when they were opening up for Twister Naked and Harmful If Swallowed at The Music Machine in 1991. Yeah, "Who?"
1991 was not the time for an original band. I never knew why they got so popular. Trevor is a good guy and all, but to me, they never were as good as a lot of the bands who influenced them or even started out when they did.

Sounds very much like an extension of Ignorance is Bliss, with hints of The Postal Service and Morrissey. That's the best I can put it. I liked the up-tempo songs right away (specifically "Cross Your Heart and Hope to Die" and "Incommunicado"), but the slower ones have grown on me a lot. You have to listen to them a few times to appreciate their nuances. I had trouble telling them apart at first, but now they're very distinguishable.

His lyric writing is as tight and thoughtful as ever, and his voice sounds great. As far as overall musical sound, it's definitely a lot closer to IIB than any of F2F's other albums.

I do like this a lot better than Viva Death, truth be told. VD in my mind was overly cynical, and the baritone guitars didn't do it for me. Melancholics Anonymous displays a wider breadth of emotions and is a lot more melodic.

it sounds like F2F making out The Foo Fighters to me.

i wish more artists did this. i'd rather support the artist directly through a link on their website than to go through itunes or emusic, because i'm sure this is the way they get the largest chunk of cash.

So far this is awesome. This is definitely a headphones album too, which is very similar to how IIB was. Hopefully he will come around Boston.

am i going to be the only person to give an honest opinion? this is HORRIBLE. he never could sing very well, which is undoubtedly the reason his voice sounds like a computer on this release, and on top of that, the tracks themselves are uninspired garbage. it's simple, it's just semi-catchy, and if sounds like it could be right at home alongside a hoobastank album in my own fictional "radio studios."

Honestly ıt's Ignorance Is Bliss part two-like trever's always want. when ıgnorance hits, fans shocked by the sound, experiment, attitude, reflection...but somehow band always want to explore this path. ıt's about time. only bad thing seems to viva death crossover electronic sub wawes; but then, it's an okay album by an artist with fill of desire.
