Media: Finch: "Daylight" / "From Hell"

San Diego's Finch has made good on their promise to premier new songs from their upcoming EP. You can check out "Daylight" and "From Hell" at the band's MySpace page. The self-titled EP will be released to digital retailers on July 22nd and available physically at Hot Topic retail stores on July 29th.

The popular act split up in 2006 and then reunited last year.

One of the songs starts out okay, and then the guy starts singing and it goes straight to hell.

I still like to listen to both of their old albums on occasion, and I was actually looking forward to these new songs. I'm pretty happy with them, and if their whole album is solid, I'll likely buy it.

They suck for only releasing their CD at Hot Topic though. But who buys CDs anymore anyway?

Like 'em or not, this guys are smart for a bunch of stoners.

Take 3 years to make a record that totally bombs and is totally hated by your fanbase, break up, wait a few years, reform and roll in the dough.

You're thinking of Story of the Year.

Actually, I really liked Finch's (and, digressively, SotY's) second albums much more than their first. They actually expanded their musical vision by a LOT. And fuck both of the aforementioned bands' fans. I'm glad nobody liked their second albums.

Finch provides something pretty diverse and uses a lot of unique timing structures. These new songs sound fresh compared to the retreaded screamo stuff out there currently. Hope the rest of the EP is good too

Finch's first album was near perfect (project mayhem being the only bad song). I try to forget about their second album. Not sure what to think of these songs, but it's no where near as good as their original stuff.

Fans like you are why the band broke up. WIITB fucking SUCKED. Boring songs, crap singing, musical suckfest. The only good things about that album are Daryl Palumbo's guest spots on Grey Matter and Project Mayhem. Say Hello To Sunshine was a million times better than that record without even trying and that = fact.

You are 100% correct sir. If Glassjaw had released SHTS people would be salivating, but because Finch released it and it broke the mold of what people were thinking it got panned.

I liked SHTS but I can't go back and listen to it. I can't go back and listen to WIITB either, only when I'm feeling nostalgic about middle school or something.

Doesn't sound like anything "new" or "original".

First song sounds like a Mars Volta rhythm/beat rip off.

And the screaming is so tired, please, calculated screaming
in songs is so dead.

Nothing fresh here.
