Snow Patrol plans iPhone/iPod Touch optimized album

Ireland's Snow Patrol has planned to release their new album as an iPod Touch/iPhone application. The application would allow users to access lyrics, photos, etc. while listening to the album, making use of both devices similar touch screen interfaces. Says Polydor Project manager Liz Goodwin:

"It will be an interactive element; a digital booklet that will take you into the videos and content. For fans it will be a real must-have, and the fact that they are the first band to do this gives us an additional angle for exposure."

The new album is titled A Hundred Million Suns and is due out via Fiction/Polydor. More details are available here.

if/when someone does recognize that shirt, it's gonna be that much sweeter.

i also got a white on black one, for good measure. so far, neither of them has bike grease one them. i'm not quite sure how i've managed that...

Well, I grew up in a tough love kind of family. As much as I love my mother, visa-versa... it's always been like... not right whenever we say it or anything like that. For a while she tried saying "love you" like after phone calls (she felt some obligation), but after a while we both confronted eachother and was like "yeah... not so much".

It's weird.

Yeah I think my family is less tough love than that, but there wasn't alot of emotion shown. It was more "implied love." I like telling my parents I love them now though and they likewise. They've been good to me for the most part, and they're getting into their 50's so who knows how much longer they'll be around. You should give your mom a little slack.

She had a really rough childhood and divorce, so she's pretty thick skinned. She's more of a... 'show me in your actions, than say it' kind of person. It's just something we both agreed felt forced and weird... not that we don't mean it.

Ah that makes sense and action does prove louder than words. My mom likes to hear it. I don't know about my dad. I'm sure it's still a little uncomfortable for him. He's always had issues with showing emotions.

I hate it when you're using your debit card and you have to type your pin in on a touch screen, but your stubby fingers cause you to hit all the wrong numbers making you look like a moron for typing your pin in wrong when there's a line of people behind you.

Yeah, I know you're supposed to use the little pen to hit the button, but my initial reaction when numbers pop up on an illuminated screen is generally "ooOoO look, an illuminated screen, let me poke at it with my fingers."

haha, yeah I always poke the screen as hard as I can with my finger, so as to make it seem like it is the machine that is the problem and not me. Then I look behind me at everyone in line and give them the "can you believe this poor excuse for technology" face, as though they are all going through the same struggle that I am.

On a hypocritical note, I get legitimately annoyed at people who do not know how to properly use the self-checkout at Giant.

i made the mistake once of plugging in my headphones, and using the audio/braille option. i was bored, it was late, and i had my headphones with me, so i figured i'd give it a go and see what it's like.
man, that's the worst atm mistake i've ever made. took my like half an hour to get my money. and i couldn't cancel out of it, either.

so reading this story i'm half wondering if this is going to be ipod exclusive? i doubt it but if it was that would be stupid as hell. I don't like this band nor do i have a clue what they sing but either way, i like my liners in booklet form.

I think it'd be more exciting if Snow Patrol optimized their next album to not suck total shit. I don't care what device you use, if your album is boring as cow snot I won't buy it.

Well how many people actually own an iPhone/iPod? In terms of money, they're pigeonholing their audience, unless it's some huge scheme to manipulate people into buying them and Snow Patrol has a "sold their soul to the devil" -type deal with Apple.

i mean the possibility of bands releasing albums specifically for digital music players in general.

sure most bands have digital releases now but for the most part most bands full length releases and most ep's are still available on cd or vinyl as well.

digital releases are fine when there is an accompanying physical release; i don't want flip through a fucking pdf file to read liner notes and look at pretty pictures.

I lost my MP3 player and can't afford nor be bothered to buy another (it's not worth the worry of losing it) so i thought i'd go truly old school and get a cassette player. They're robust, they don't skip and i could emo it up in my bedroom making awesome tapes. Went to the store thinking it would cost mere pennies. It was 36 quid! Don't know how much that is in dollars but i know it can fuck off.
