Mike Damante of The Daily Cougar recently performed a revealing interview with Tom Delonge of Blink-182 and Angels and Airwaves. In the interview, Tom talks about some of the more ambitious comments he made at the beginning of AvA as well as explaining some of the band's sound and influences.

Along the way, he addresses being called "the Tom Cruise of punk rock" in a review, and how stoked he was to see Big Drill Car and TSOL at Warped.

i was at the record store the day before yesterday, and i saw the angels and airwaves dvd, and broke into a fit of raging laughter in the store. i didn't know start the machine was the name of the fucking dvd! and this is what it says on the cover:

"From the break-up of Blink-182 to the Genesis of Angels and Airwaves...
A Rock and Roll Documentary about an Experiment of Hope...
AND THE MOVEMENT THAT FOLLOWED."

i didn't realize all the jokes about him being a savior and stuff were that literal!

yea john edward got it on south park. but what if the first time aliens made contact IN THE REAL WORLD was to tell us that Delonge is the first nominee from our galaxy for the REAL biggest douche in the universe award? would anyone be surprised at all? picture this in your head: Tom being taken up to the mothership in a column of blinding white light... at first he's smirking, holding his arms out like jesus during the transfiguration... then the booming announcement from the heavens: "TOM DELONGE YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN... AS THE FIRST NOMINEE FROM YOUR GALAXY FOR THE BIGGEST DOUCHE IN THE UNIVERSE!" and now Tom is whining in that trademark Blink-182 voice: "BUT I MAKE PEOPLE FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES!" doesn't that whole scenario just feel right?
