More details are now available on Black Schwarzenbach's new band. The Thorns of Life, features the influential Jawbreaker and Jets To Brazil frontman on guitar, Aaron Elliott of the Cometbus zine, Crimpshrine and Pinhead Gunpowder on drums and actress / musician Daniela Sea on bass. Sea performed in Berkeley punk rock acts the Gr'ups and Cypher In The Snow and most recently appeared on Showtime series The L Word.
A series of video clips for the band's much talked about debut November 9th show have appeared on popular video sharing service YouTube. You can check them out by clicking Read More. I'm really not digging that "The" before "Thorns of Life", but this is the greatest news post of the year thus far

Scott Heisel is probably calling YouTube and demanding all the videos be relabeled "Alt Press Exclusive," or else he's gonna call his buddy David Geffen and complain. 5+ Replies

Wow. This sounds a lot different than I was expecting. It's almost as if Blake of 2008 summoned up the spirit of Blake 1990. It sounds awesome. 2+ Replies

I don't even really know when it happened, but I noticed in the last month or two just how much I love Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil. And it seems like everyone else on here started talking about them a whole lot more too. 2+ Replies

I can't believe I managed to know about this, live in Brooklyn, and yet still allow myself to miss this. However, homework and laundry called... god I'm fucking lame. i guess my rational behind it all is, "there will be others."

I hate New York. Not because I'm from MA, but because you get everything awesome and then dangle it just out of reach.

I remember seeing Jets To Brazil the night they kicked off their Orange Rhyming Dictionary tour at The Atomic Cafe (Now Beerland) during SXSW and people in the audience were calling out Jawbreaker songs for them to play, which they did not.... I believe this show was not too far from that scenario.

Subtract out Blake and Aaron and replace them with anyone, would the crowd have been just as into it? 2+ Replies

Guhhh I really want to check this out, but I am trying to steer clear of concert videos on Youtube if I can... it's just never the same and I think it takes away some of the excitement and anticipation for me. I'm glad to read the positive responses though!
