More details, video from the Thorns of Life (Blake Schwarzenbach, Aaron Cometbus)

More details are now available on Black Schwarzenbach's new band. The Thorns of Life, features the influential Jawbreaker and Jets To Brazil frontman on guitar, Aaron Elliott of the Cometbus zine, Crimpshrine and Pinhead Gunpowder on drums and actress / musician Daniela Sea on bass. Sea performed in Berkeley punk rock acts the Gr'ups and Cypher In The Snow and most recently appeared on Showtime series The L Word.

A series of video clips for the band's much talked about debut November 9th show have appeared on popular video sharing service YouTube. You can check them out by clicking Read More. Punknews reviews editor and Alternative Press newsie Brian Shultz took in a recent show and has his review online as well.

(True story, BTW. "Boulder" is just a poetic way of saying "vanflip". The folks from the Middle East in Boston said they were on their way to play a secret show at their club. Sorry to break this to you guys... they're all dead.)

That was a seriously stupid decision on my part, but I was pretty much out of clean clothes. On top of being really, really hot, I didn't fit in with the punx. But I didn't put much thought into anything - I kind of just dropped everything when I heard it was happening, and the next thing I knew, I was driving down from upstate.

The DRI, Op Ivy, and Circle Jerks skiankin dudes are the best logos around and Skankin' in the Pit is one of the best comps ever. I'm not ashamed.

I don't even really know when it happened, but I noticed in the last month or two just how much I love Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil. And it seems like everyone else on here started talking about them a whole lot more too.

I listen to like two albums by each band per day at this point at least.

I remember seeing Jets To Brazil the night they kicked off their Orange Rhyming Dictionary tour at The Atomic Cafe (Now Beerland) during SXSW and people in the audience were calling out Jawbreaker songs for them to play, which they did not.... I believe this show was not too far from that scenario.

The music sounds awesome and I hope we get to hear more soon. Seems like the lighter, brighter side of Jawbreaker, if there ever was one, I guess.

Agreed times 1,000. Would anyone even care if they weren't in the band? I think not. It would probably be called mediocre at best, but that's just how the world turns. There are bands that sound just like D4 and in fact pull it off just as well even with some of there own style for originality, but they are not heralded at all like D4. I think the Brokedowns are so good, but everyone just compares them to D4.

is anyone here going to the show at gilman? cause i am, im bringing my camera too, but its just alittle digital and can only film 10 minutes with the memory card i have. this is my first show in like 3 years and even if i have to bring my 16 month old daughter IM GOING!!! i jsut mooved to the east bay from bakersfield and dont know anyone uphere with similar taste in music as me besides my wife. lemme know..im in antioch.ca
