KTP from Lawrence, Kansas, were robbed this holiday weekend. The band is currently on their Winter '08 tour, and were in California when they woke up to find their trailer gone and van empty.
Here's the original bulletin the band posted on MySpace:

I've been teaching my 13-year old sister how to play guitar for the past few weeks. And I was thinking of buying her her own acoustic guitar for Christmas. Any recommondations on a guitar that would suit a girl her age. I want something that's light, something that she won't have to press down on the strings too hard on, and something with a neck thin enough for her to easily wrap her hand around it. 7+ Replies

I hate to say this, but since it's in that part of California, theres no way they will recover anything.

i've always wondered what the robbers due with the merch and stuff, i imagine trash it unless they like the design or something. would be weird if there were walking around and saw a bunch of people wearing their shirts. 4+ Replies

I think they told me it was the only night one of them didn't sleep in the van because it was Thanksgiving. So shitty. I can't believe this happens. I got drunk in St. Louis and slept in my van to make sure something like this didn't happen. Free basing pot in the cigarette lighter kept me company that night. 2+ Replies

*yawn* Goddamn that was a good show we just played I am so tired now. Better go to sleep and leave thousands of dollars worth of equipment in a van with the band's name on it.

we played with this band at one show on tour last summer. the one i talked to seemed like a pretty solid dude. they've been doing this band since they were like 12 years old, which is fucking insane.

kick in a door. break a window. unhitch a trailer. it's pretty easy to be apathetic when it doesn't happen to you, huh? holidays or not, it's a shitty thing to happen.

Hahahaha... Don't mean to be a douchebag, but this band drives the most conspicuous band van ever... I was never into them but it's funny to imagine a bunch of crack heads breaking into the KTP van.

I don't buy the whole "sleep in the van" idea. Insurance is considerably safer and not very expensive. It cost me only $95 per year to insure all of my equipment when I was in a touring band back in the day. | Features
