actually i went to a bronx show like a week after the nofx frat party and it totally redeemed everything for me.

I don't know. Not huge on the UMC single. Common might be my favorite rapper (I think Be is an absolute masterpiece and Finding Forever is a lot better than I think it got credit for, and I'm finally getting into his older albums), but I don't like the electronic turn a lot of mainstream rap has been taking lately. I'm not huge into dance music and that's what it's starting to sound like to me. I cannot wait for people to start singing without vocoders again.

(And I know you're super into Lil Wayne. This is going to be one of those times where we just agree to disagree. At least you know I'm not like half the people on the review thread slagging off an entire broad genre.)

haha nah i wouldn't say i'm super into Wayne... i certainly recognize his limits and know that its just a passing phase in hip hop. like i mentioned in one of the comments, i see Wayne as this generation's Snoop Dogg - he makes fun music, lots of personality and charisma, but at the same time, its hard to take it too seriously (and its not supposed to be anyway)

i'll cop the new Common record and review it on here, maybe then you can decide if you think its worth picking up
