Dischord plans vinyl reissues, remastering

Dischord has opted to remaster and reissue a number of their classic albums on vinyl. The label made a typically quiet announcement on their website:

Due to the renewed interest in vinyl LPs Dischord Records is remastering and re-cutting much of our vinyl catalog here in the United States. We will begin by re-pressing current titles, and later re-issuing others, all re-cut at Chicago Mastering Service and featuring complimentary MP3 album downloads.

The first batch of reissues includes Minor Threat's Out of Step and First Two Seven Inches as well as a split from The Faith and Void and One Last Wish's 1986 LP. More details can be found here.

Yeah the hc/punk stuff, and the Q and Not U and Medicaitons/Faraquet and Black Eyes math-rock type stuff I like, but a lot of the recent bands I can't get into at all like Aquarium or Antelope. I never liked Shudder to Think either

The only band I like less is Branch Manager. But Circus Lupus, Lungfish, Bluetip and NOU are all great. I really like the 90's Dischord stuff. Although I do think that Supersystem is superior to El Guapo.

To the credit of The Descendents, the only reason why tthey were on SST is because New Alliance went to SST afterwards. SST>Dischord though but it's really comparing Apples to Oranges. I mean I'm biased, The Descendents are my favorite band but fuck do I love a lot of Dischord shit.

Here's hoping for an Embrace rerelease. I already own both those Minor Threat albums.

No one can deny Dischord's huge influence... even on mainstream music. But come on, SST is a no brainer.

Both are no No Idea though.

Descendents are the only reason I'd fight for this argument. Dischord is an amazing label. So many great releases. However label wise, speaking of 'peak': Lookout Records was fucking killer for pop-punk. Green Day, MTX, Screeching Weasel, Queers, Op Ivy, Crimpshrine... Not to mention singles and comps.

Strung Out, Good Riddance, Propagandhi, Utters, Gimme Gimmes
No Use, Snuff, NOFX, Lagwagon, Face To Face, Screeching Weasel, Mad Caddies, Tilt... a lot of classics in there.

Epitaph was pretty awesome for a while too.

I enjoyed most of these as a kid. Now...the descendents are the only in heavy rotation. Dischords catalog still remains in heavy rotation. SST are my #3 or #4

I ultimately think SST had a better catalogue but come on, let's not so easily dismiss Dischord. Minor Threat, Fugazi, SOA, Dag Nasty, GI, Void, Rites of Spring, Gray Matter, Iron Cross, etc. Both were incredible labels at their respective peaks.
