Green Day updates: live videos from Webster Hall, Rock Band game

Some news from Green Day today. First, the band's recent MySpace-sponsored "The List" performance from Webster Hall is now available online. You can find video of the band performing the following songs by clicking on the titles: "21st Century Breakdown," "Know Your Enemy," "East Jesus Nowhere," "Viva La Gloria," "The Static Age" and "21 Guns."

The band also recently confirmed their participation in a forthcoming video game. At the Kevin and Bean Breakfast Q&A with the band, they were asked "Will you ever lend your music to Guitar Hero or Rock Band?"

Drummer Tre Cool replied, saying:

Actually, we are coming out with a Rock Band Green Day. I can't play the drums on it. If you were born before 1985, you won't be able to play the drums.

The band released 21st Century Breakdown this year.

i'm all for fun. i just think it would be easier to come out with a big set of green day songs you can download, instead of making people shell out $50-$60 for an entire new game. just seems a little unnecessary.

You know those two journalists that were captured by north korea? I don't think that the U.S. should try to get them out. They went into north korea illegally, and they damn well knew the risks that they were taking. They knew if they were caught, they would be fucked. I mean, if they do a crime, and they knew the consequenses and were caught, they should embrace it. It was a risky move for a possible front page story. They found the news headlines, but not in the way they hoped.

I could agree with you but I believe in upholding the spirit of the law not the letter and from what I can tell the spirit of the law in which they were tried was fucked and deserves to be fucked with.

nobody knows if they went into north korea, or if north korean guards aggressively went into chinese territory to take the journalists. the entire trial is blacked out, and the details surrounding the incident are unknown.

also if you don't want to appreciate the risks journalists take to get hard hitting news stories, i suggest you go back to reading teen beat and entertainment weekly.

They should embrace the incredibly unjust punishment? Yeah right. If they took "risks" by going in there, I bet that the main reason they took the risks is because they wanted to shed light on the North Korea situation. They wanted to show how bad it is for the citizens there. I cannot imagine a journalist going into North Korea simply to get a good story. You can get a good story in much safer places. Their main reason had to be because they wanted to expose how terrible the living conditions are there. Why would they want to expose that? So that hopefully the international community would respond and do something to try to loosen up the government there. But the only way the international community will listen is with cold hard proof. You have to go in there on foot to get that.

So yeah they knew what they were doing. They went in there to help the people,

I used to hate "Know Your Enemy" but seeing it performed live on Colbert, I really was impressed and loved the harmonies on the back up vocals that you can barely hear in the recording.

Checked out two of the clips. I've like d Green Day a long time, but always HATED the Wee oohh, ole ole thing Billie keeps on doing live. The first times I saw them he didn't do that, but it has ruined the last shows I've seen. Sure enough, here it is again... why?

i have a question for you all....i've noticed you are pretty high on insomniac and warning....i have international superhits and for the longest time just figured that that cd had the best songs off those 2 records...so i was wondering if i was really missing out on anything and if they are still worth looking in to??

21CB has the most dogshit production I ever did hear on a GD album. Butch can't make a song sound heavy without swallowing the music entirely. He needs to go back and have a good listen to Insomniac and take a few tips. That production is fucking amazing - heavy as fuck, but you can hear the bass notes nice and crisp. I don't hear no bass at all on 21CB, nor anything else bar this bullshit wall of noise and BJ. The vocals are far too motherfucking high in the mix and the bass way too low. More fundamentally, the songs are all vocal-driven pop, a hark back to the 1,039 days. I, however, yearn for the Insomniac days, when BJ was less concerned about how beautiful his voice sounds and more concerned with just writing some fucking guitar-driven rock songs.
