totally. an american idol winner is totally more punk than a couple of guys who spent nearly a decade in the underground punk scene making amazing music.

Did they make something before At the Drive In that I don't know about? Because I certainly wouldn't call that amazing.

Plus, there's a quote from Joey Ramone about The Ramones forming to combat "10th generation Led Zeppelin" bands on the radio at the time. If it was 10th generation in the mid 70's, what would Mars Volta be 35 years later? 50th generation Zeppelin?

I will legitimately take fun pop rock songs over that garbage any day.
