MxPx All-Stars (Japan & Malaysia)

A special line up of MxPx will tour Japan and Malaysia this December with Zebrahead. The shows are unique in that they will not feature drummer Yuri Ruley and guitarist Tom Wisniewski, but instead a few familiar ringers. On the tour singer/bassist Mike Herrera will be backed by Ataris frontman Kris Roe on guitar and the Summer Obsession's Chris Wilson on drums. Wilson was prevously a member of MxPx, while Roe has been a friend and tourmate of the band since 1996, and as such the group will tour under the name "MxPx All-Stars." For the record, Ruley and Wisniewski are just taking a temporary break for this tour and will be back in the band afterwards.

The group is expected to throw a few Ataris songs into their set along with other surprises. MxPx is supporting their upcoming Left Coast Punk EP as well as an upcoming holiday album. The Ataris are currently finishing up their sixth album The Graveyard of the Atlantic.

Mate, I love both those bands. The Ataris are a bit more technically proficient but it's just layering with octaves. Used to love playing along to the whole of Slowly Going and Next 12 Exits, Powerchords and octaves fest!

Yes, very odd. When I submitted this (on Tuesday I think? Longest turnaround time I think I've had on a submission...I assumed they weren't going to bother posting it) I wrote that Wilson had filled in w/ MxPx before. I don't know how/why that got changed to him being a "previous member", as he never was.

Yes somebody at Punknews changed the entire tour announcement. Chris Wilson actually has filled in for MXPX for quite a few tours and they left off that the Summer Obsession is recording a new album also.
