My Chemical Romance recently dropped by Yo Gabba Gabba for a performance of "Every Snowflake is Different." The popular children's program has previously hosted Rocket From the Crypt, Taking Back Sunday, Dinosaur Jr., Weezer and more.

I started a major fracas this weekend when I questioned a friend's wisdom in subjecting her 18-month-old to hours of TV every day.

"Who are you to tell me how to raise my child?"

Uh, it's not ME, lady, it's every pediatric organization in the West. Plus it'll be YOUR ADD-addled sociopath vermin that will be making my life shittier in 15 years when you kick them out of the house. I could care less about what you do with your dumb kid if you weren't conditioning it to be a detriment to society. Ever heard of going to the park? Reading aloud? Oh right, you're too busy on Facebook. The cycle continues...

More like giving your kid a valium to knock them out. At least a babysitter can interact with you without relying on bright colors and rapid cuts to keep your attention.

The more I learn, the more I think subjecting any child under 3 to any "screen time" whatsoever should be considered straight-up child abuse.

Television when we (assuming we are similar ages) was definatly just 'sit there and watch', but now, honestly, 99% of the shows aimed at children under 5 are strictly educational and provide a lot of learning for them. My 2 and a half year old constantly surprises me with the numbers/words/etc. that he learned from Mickey Mouse clubhouse, or Special Agent OSO.

My wife and I definatly do not use the TV as a babysitter, but it can definatly be a useful tool in a childrens education - if you use it as such.

'Yo Gabba Gabba!' is automatically better than The Wiggles because they're not Australian. New Zealand may give some competition, but Australians, for the most part, are frightening to small children.
