Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

I've heard two of these. I need to dig up that ps Eliot girl's stuff.

tsiege (February 21, 2012)

Didn't they break up?

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Yeah but I never got their record. Waxahatchy. Is one of the girls being acoustic and sad...or so I gathered. Somebody told me they sound like Heavenly and I love this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtjQiooqwsc&feature=youtube _gdata_player

So, why not

spoon_of_grimbo (February 21, 2012)

i'd heartily recommend that waxahatchee album. shit is haunting. not usually my thing, but i LOVE that album.

jimmynorville (February 21, 2012)

Top 17?

eazyd2 (February 21, 2012)

never heard none of this junk. who the fuck is jon k sampson?

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Lead singer of The weakerthans.

eazyd2 (February 21, 2012)

sounds like emo

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Yeah, I guess it would.

hayman (February 21, 2012)

Used to play for propagandhi.

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

He's a Muppet! He's a Muppet! He's a Muppet in a man-suit!

Misanthropee (February 21, 2012)

My favorite record from March:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vukSEV9-lE4

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

That sounds like a nosebleed.

Misanthropee (February 21, 2012)

Must be the low bitrate. If it CAUSES a nosebleed, however, it's just cuz your mind got fucked too hard.

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Haven't seen blood yet.

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

Kind of...*loud*, isn't it? O_o

Heathbar (February 21, 2012)

Is living in the future healthier than living in the past?

hayman (February 21, 2012)

Hahaha, beat me to it. Doesn't Koloss get released in about a month?

Cheesetits (February 21, 2012)

Haven't listened to this yet, well done sir.

sketchyjoe (February 21, 2012)

Here's mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veSlzBQZSaQ

Misanthropee (February 21, 2012)

::Whoosh::

sketchyjoe (February 22, 2012)

*splat*

Cheesetits (February 21, 2012)

The latest Alcest is my early favorite of the year.

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

I've only bought three new albums this year, and that comes in second. I enjoy it, though I doubt it'll make my year-end Top 20.

gugl0003 (February 21, 2012)

That Loma Prieta album is really good. Also, the Daylight EP has grown on me quite a bit.

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

How the hell did that band "The Vines" get popular. They were fucking terrible.

hayman (February 21, 2012)

Not a fan either but they've been pretty popular here for about 10 years or so.

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

There's some ladies playing horrible shit on the digital jukebox but they just played "in the city" by the jam. I'm assuming it was a mistake

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

DOOD! Time to move in and make your move! ;)

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

They don't like me, I don't like them...

loki13 (February 21, 2012)

Are they fat? They're probably fat...

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

No, just nondescript.

loki13 (February 21, 2012)

Hmmm...please describe?

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

They look like they just got off work from some filing job.
Not ugly, not attractive. Just generic.

hayman (February 21, 2012)

Do they look like this?
http://www.joplindentalarts.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploa ds/2010/09/generic.jpg

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Hair isn't that nice

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Jukebox songs:
American idiot
The vines - ride with me
Bare naked ladies - one week
Green day - long view
Blink - all the small things
Some white stripes song I don't know the name of
- the jam -
Some female vocalist song I don't know
Sum 41
Right now I think it's pet shop boys

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

Here's the big question: if you're in a bar(?) where there's music being played and wild women roaming about, what the #@%$ are you doing on PunkNews, let alone the internet?

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

I travel for work. Restaurant is hooked to hotel. I'm old and married and these ladies are terrible.
What's your excuse?

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

What's my excuse as to why I'm not currently in a social setting interacting with friends and scoring with potential mates?

...I'm *Skibz*. Duh.

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Ha. Potential mates

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

Wait a minute, traveling? For what work? I could have seriously sworn you said you worked in homeowner's insurance or something. O_o

hayman (February 21, 2012)

Haha, that's pretty bad. Are you at a pub or something?

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

Bones is for the dogs. A Rubenesque figure is a work of art. While Bastard_squad is busy crying tears in his beer at the corner of the bar, the Skibz would swoop down on those plus-sized beauties like a well-coiffed hawk. ;D

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

They aren't dudes.

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

Eww, fat dudes are grody. Them bones is okay. However, a woman gotta have curves if they want to set the Skibz aflame, if you know what I mean. ;D

hayman (February 21, 2012)

I don't know what you're talking about most of the time mate.
I like the word "grody" though.

loki13 (February 21, 2012)

You two, get a room

killtaker (February 21, 2012)

Love this feature.

renaldo69 (February 21, 2012)

troubled coast? where's that album...it was friggin amazing!!

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Classic Renaldo.

renaldo69 (February 22, 2012)

And you're still a bastard with no hope or identity

baldsteve (February 22, 2012)

Classic Renaldo.

karliscool (February 22, 2012)

Agreed! I was extremely impressed

theemalcontents (February 21, 2012)

I wanna talk to (John K.) Samson, straight to the moon like that bitch alice Kramden

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

That's just rude.

jimmynorville (February 21, 2012)

That shouldn't have been funny.

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

Son of Sam > anyone with the last name "Samson".

Bastard_squad (February 21, 2012)

Berkowitz tattooed on your heart?

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

Not a fan of his at all. Guns are for the weak-willed. I'd rather get a tattoo of the talking dog.

theproblemwithfire (February 21, 2012)

am i the only one oddly fascinated by "jame's" reviews at pastepunk?

givemeamuseumandillfillit (February 22, 2012)

Pastepunk and punkrocks were kind of related, weren't they? Then no, fuck that guy, it's all about this:

http://punkrocks.net/display_review.php?id=1011

theproblemwithfire (February 22, 2012)

i don't know if there's a connection, but i miss that place. not really a fan of pastepunk, but this james guy has a weird writing style.

SilentStorms (February 21, 2012)

Nada Surf and Loma Prieta will definitely be in my top 10 records of the year.

eazyd2 (February 21, 2012)

how the fuck can you make a definitive statement like that in february? are you retard?

Skibz777 (February 21, 2012)

Some bands are just consistent enough that one automatically knows anything they release will be of such quality that there's no way it couldn't be absolutely satisfying. Most of it is personal bias, of course, but 9 times out of 10, some bands just have that enduring and continual level of quality. I like to call this theory "The Rush Principle".

SilentStorms (February 22, 2012)

Please tell me that the grammar in the final question is ironic sarcasm. Take it eazy R2. Hmmm, that was too far. Sorry.

owneroperator (February 21, 2012)

http://grimfandango.bandcamp.com/

listen now, thank me later.

vegancraig (February 22, 2012)

can i thank you now? def good stuff. but that bandcamp stuff is old. i'm hoping this is newer stuff:
http://www.facebook.com/GrimFandangoWA?sk=app_17809112738 5

owneroperator (February 23, 2012)

this is the new record
get it
http://www.punknews.org/review/10931

karliscool (February 22, 2012)

I've been on a huge rap kick lately, I wasn't a big fan of the new KRS album however. Maybe it's just me, but older rap groups who still put out albums seem to make some pretty underwhelming tracks. Case in point: Wu Tang Clan

enchanted_steel (February 22, 2012)

My favorite two albums from January were Cloud Nothings "Attack on Memory" and First Aid Kit "The Lion's Roar"

That's the whole comment.

wastedwolves (February 22, 2012)

This picture pretty much sums up who john k samson is.

bonerburger (February 24, 2012)

Yup. Isn't he a judge on American Idol or something now?
