Videos: The Gaslight Anthem: “45,” “Here Comes My Man,” “Handwritten”

The Gaslight Anthem stopped in with RadioDBC before their show in Boston, MA a few nights ago, and performed acoustic versions of a few songs from their latest album, Handwritten : "45," "Here Comes My Man," and the title track.

well, I tried to get to the Sunday night show and that sold out before I could, so Monday had to work. Oh well, I am taking tuesday off to rest-oldpunker-

These versions are pretty shit. They've all been done elsewhere and sounded heaps better. Also, someone needs to tell Brian he's much better plugged in. If he reworked them to be actual acoustic/folk songs, then it'd probably be cool, but these are just the same songs without drums and bass. I even thought the record was pretty good.

I thought the same thing. They tended to write actual acoustic arrangements for all the songs from the old records. Beyond puzzled why they didn't do it for any of these.

Not only that, but Alex doesn't even seem to know what he's doing. At least in the first 30 seconds of "45," which was all I managed to listen to. Ugh.

It's also the gruff voice and sing-along lyrics. And the aggressive-yet-folky-and-sensitive style of music. Perfectly stereotypical for male bonding.
