ozmanx (January 28, 2013)

Weird

gugl0003 (January 28, 2013)

Let's all get old and race to see who can reform the band quicker so we can sue each other over merch rights. Punk as fuck.

bastard_squad (January 28, 2013)

It's Ginn's name and Ginn's band. He can wreck whatever it is that he wants to.

You couldn't pay me to attend this.

Dante3000 (rich) (January 28, 2013)

I agree. While I have zero interest in seeing this, everyone has noted that Black Flag was Ginn's project. He was the insane master mind behind it. That said, Chuck wrote "My War" so he's always been my favorite member.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

Agreed. And there isn't enough money to get me to go.

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 28, 2013)

A scotch over 2 grand + expenses paid is DEFINITELY enough for me to go.
Hevy is a great time. It's essentially just a bunch of asshole hardcore kids - but they've decided to make that the one weekend per year where they can actually enjoy themselves and have some fun. The more they expand, the better it gets.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

HAHAHA. I haven't even looked at the rest of the lineup for it. I'd probably be in the beer or bathroom line during this set, however.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Pretty much this.

theviz (January 28, 2013)

In this economy?

bastard_squad (January 28, 2013)

Don't worry your pretty little head. I'm doing fine.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Wanna help me pay off my student loans then, Mr. Millionaire?

bastard_squad (January 28, 2013)

BS helps those that help themselves.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Well that's total BS.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Well, Nick, if you had a JOB, then maybe you could put a dent in those loans, hmm?

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Male gigolo is a job.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Only if you have customers other than your parents, for God's sake! No wonder you didn't get that job at Boeing. >:[

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Now we know more about your back story. Thanks.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

That doesn't even make SENSE! Don't even try to take your aggression out on me, you know I didn't even apply to that position at Boeing. Look, Jack spurned me, too, but we got back up on our feet again, right? It's best to just forget him.

Skibz666 (January 28, 2013)

HEY! You promised we wouldn't talk about our ex-boyfriend on an open forum again!

God I miss his hairy chest the way it'd run down our back those hot summer nights.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Hi, Nick.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Why are you calling yourself Nick?

Skibz666 (January 28, 2013)

NICK?!?!?! :(

StraightEdgeHardCore (January 29, 2013)

The fuck, man? Nick's my name!

kidecono (andrew) (January 28, 2013)

Only one of these bands is claiming to be Black Flag.

imadeanaccountjustforthis (January 28, 2013)

The other one will just be good.

moofeet (January 28, 2013)

With Keith Morris's rotten self, I think not.

lmchc (January 28, 2013)

You hear anything about why Black Flag reunion bombed before this?

It's because Ginn is a gigantic douche. At least Keith "Turd Sandwich" Morris can get a band together to record.

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 28, 2013)

Luckily for you, it's far more punk to whine about the decisions of a band you've never been able to influence in any way, shape or form.

LAR (January 28, 2013)

I love the music so I'd go see both bands. I don't give a fuck about being 'punk as fuck'. You're a fucking loser if you're older than 16 and care about bands 'selling out.' Don't you think it would be a bigger sell out to their lives to work a shitty job instead of playing rad songs to generate cash? It won't be the same as 30 years ago but nothing stays the same and I can accept that. Get over some lame standard that was established during the pre-internet era. If using the internet would have been labelled selling out, you would never hit it.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

I'm willing to bet Ginn's band sounds like complete dogshit.

misterspike (January 28, 2013)

I'm firmly in the FLAG camp.

kidecono (andrew) (January 28, 2013)

True.

nickvicious (January 29, 2013)

Seconded.

maverick (scott) (January 28, 2013)

This is definitely the darkest timeline.

-Scott

tmlca818 (January 28, 2013)

Abed?

telegraphrocks (January 28, 2013)

9/10

davebrave4 (January 28, 2013)

Never thought I'd be sad to see a Black Flag reunion.

mez (January 28, 2013)

I can ignore reunion shows, but I'm really bummed about "Black Flag" releasing a new album.

wakeentry (January 28, 2013)

Just do what I do with most bands that get old, and think of it as a completely different band. It will help you sleep better, and you'll be able to enjoy the music... maybe.

johngentile (john g.) (January 28, 2013)

Honestly, I think is pretty cool. OFF! is amazing and CD6 is amazing, so I'm pretty sure Flag is gonna be awesome. As for Greg Ginn, the Reyes/Ginn show from 2011 was pretty cool. Plus, Ginn's solo stuff is terrible, but he is awesome live.

For me, the more chances I get to see these musicians live, the better. I din't really care what they call themselves.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

Flag will be head and shoulders better live, but I couldn't give less of a fuck. And this Ginn shit is just truly fucking terrible.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

" Ginn's solo stuff is terrible, but he is awesome live. "

I feel like this is kinda an oxymoron.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

Also contradicts pretty much everything I've ever heard, as well.

droneclone (January 28, 2013)

I thought he was terrible when I saw him. He also seemed like an ass, which didn't help.

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 28, 2013)

Weren't you going to be an engineer or some shit?
If so, learn what that means and figure out how to deal with it. It's one of the hardest things to deal with as a producer.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Learn what what means?

cmmcm (January 28, 2013)

Both bands are using the "bars" logo, which was created by Ginn's brother... I predict a lawsuit...
Personally, I don't like the idea of reunions, but hopefully the Flag folks can make up some of the cash, since Ginn has never paid a penny of royalties to any of the former members

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

Morris wouldn't be doing it if he didn't think he could make cash.

loki13 (January 28, 2013)

I thought that was a Tegan and Sara logo.

davebrave4 (January 29, 2013)

Actually, the copyright for the Bars logo is owned by the thousands of aging former frat boys who have etched it into their biceps for eternity.

loveshackbaby (January 28, 2013)

boo

Angiepants (January 28, 2013)

no

misterspike (January 28, 2013)

Wasn't ROBO supposed to be playing with Ginn & Co.? That's what I had read for the festival in England.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

He's always dangling that out there, and it never happens.

nedsammy (January 28, 2013)

It doesn't seem to have struck anyone how phenomenally fucking weird the idea of a new Black Flag album is.
I mean, what? I'm not saying Ginn has no right but cheesis, where the hell did that come from?

Now Rollins just needs to get all friendly with Kira, Dez and Robo and we can have another Black Flag touring, and maybe some kind of showdown.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

Not that it would have happened, but all this shit now has pretty much guaranteed Rollins will never be involved with anything having to do with "Black Flag," ever again. It's just really cheapened the name and tarnished the legacy.

misterspike (January 28, 2013)

Hank's made it pretty clear he isn't interested in playing music anymore. Even if he were, I don't imagine he and Ginn in a room together. Let alone Ginn and many other ex-members. Lots of bad blood over unpaid royalties - it's the SST legacy.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

Ron is pretty much the only dude he'll speak to him at this point.

nedsammy (January 28, 2013)

I know, plus poor old Hank doesn't even get the calls about reunions. It'd be awesome to see him do "My War" with Flag, who I admit I do back. I would in theory be behind "Black Flag" if Ginn wasn't such a turd, creative genius though he was.

cmmcm (January 28, 2013)

Dukowski has been trying to get Rollins to work with him for a long time, but Hank isn't into it.

nedsammy (January 28, 2013)

Ah man, that's sad. Still, I enjoy Rollins' spoken word and also his writing, in small doses (he's very talented but it leaves me feeling a tiny bit existentially depressed), so it's no tragedy if we'll be seeing more.

cmmcm (February 6, 2013)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_H4gOf0urI ... check out 11:05.

ravnos (January 28, 2013)

The last time Ginn put together a Black Flag reunion, he got Mike Vallely to sing My War. By all accounts, it was as awful as you think it would be. Apparently, they have a band together now.

Strummerboy (January 29, 2013)

Pinata-core. But that Mike V dude has been doing shit with a whole bunch of Black Flag members for years. It's strange.

Farkasok (January 28, 2013)

Or maybe all three could tour together to add to the confusion.

nedsammy (January 28, 2013)

I can imagine major punch-ups over the takings.

swank (January 28, 2013)

I wouldn't go to see either band, but I'd go to see a Black Flag/Flag/RollinsFlag showdown for sure.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

I prefer Black Flag, Flag and "Flaggins".

imadeanaccountjustforthis (January 28, 2013)

I don't like "Flaggins." Even though it's really an equal mashup of the names, it's got too much "flag" to it.
You know?

idonthaveanaccountyet (January 28, 2013)

God hates flags.

Butcher (January 29, 2013)

Greg Ginn fucks cats

StraightEdgeHardCore (January 28, 2013)

Maybe Minor Threat should reform as well.

stivy (January 28, 2013)

thank god that will never happen.

StraightEdgeHardCore (January 28, 2013)

Aww c'mon! I wanna X up at the shows!

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 28, 2013)

...A festival mentioned up there came *this* close to getting it in writing last year, the same week Refused and ATDI reformed.
You can call bullshit all you want, but a _very_ reliable source let it slip due to excitement.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

How many years in a row were people from that festival running around saying the same about Refused before it happened though? I think at least 4, right??

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 28, 2013)

None.
They've barely been around for 4 years. This wasn't a rumor and no one ran around saying it expect for my friend who got fired because they literally had to stop the presses to remove it.

lookingforcorpses (January 29, 2013)

Oh OK, you're talking about HEVY and not Coachella. In general, talking about people involved with fests at all levels.

lookingforcorpses (January 29, 2013)

And they couldn't have done it. Sorry. No disrespect to your friend, but HEVY fest isn't anywhere near in the realm to do that.

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 29, 2013)

Like I said, I don't care if anyone calls bullshit; because it's true.

..And I didn't specifically say it was Hevy.

lookingforcorpses (January 29, 2013)

Look, all I can do is trust that you saw an email correspondence between "yourfriend@whateverfest.com" and Ian discussing how much money it'd take for all/most of Minor Threat to appear there and perform Minor Threat songs.

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 29, 2013)

Close enough, but you can add in the fact that yourfriend@whateverfest.com is not my friend. My friend is a _journalist_ who yourfriend@whateverfest.com decided to tell because the offer (it wasn't the fee that did it) was accepted. You know just as well as me that it takes more than "we're talking to xxxxx" if you decide to tell the press. There's a bit more to it regarding it too, which validates it for me since it's stuff that my friend (who's more of a rock/metal dude) wouldn't have known in a million years.

It really doesn't matter, though. All I'm saying is that I don't believe there's "no way" they'll do some shows. The reunion thing has been going mental since about 2005 though, so they might have to wait a few years for it to cool off.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

Or by "up there" do you mean one of the ones listed in this article? Ultimately, which festival doesn't matter to the topic at hand.

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 28, 2013)

No, it doesn't really matter, but I thought I'd say it since they were the first to announce Black Flag this year.

robbykills (January 28, 2013)

that was a pretty good Maximum Rock N Roll April Fool's joke a few years back. I had made plans to go to DC to see it within 10 seconds of reading it.

davebrave4 (January 29, 2013)

Oh man, that's brutal. I would've done the same thing.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

I don't hate Ginnman's solo work because...well, because I'm *me*, so I'm rather looking forward to this new "Black Flag", partly because it may produce music I'll actually like, and partly out of morbid curiosity. Not so much looking forward to "Flag" since I'm apparently one of the three people in America who doesn't like OFF!.

lookingforcorpses (January 28, 2013)

It's highly overrated.

davebrave4 (January 29, 2013)

I only have one one Ginn's solo albums, so it's an admittedly small sample size, but I could never get into it. I think the album was called Dick.

Also, I think a more accurate phrase would be, "one of the three people on this *site* that doesn't like OFF!." If we broaden our horizons a bit here, I'm sure we'll find that most Americans who hear OFF! end up covering their ears and screaming, "what is this godforsaken noise?!?"

devianter (February 4, 2013)

and still OFF! is awesome

stivy (January 28, 2013)

this is the best "BF reunion" we've ever had
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCOGM7PL8gY

so unless we get to see something like that Im not interested, and since Rollins will never perform music again well... sad times.

misterspike (January 28, 2013)

This tour was freaking Amazing to be at.

justthetip (January 28, 2013)

That video is pretty awesome. When was this?

misterspike (January 29, 2013)

'03. Keith did Keith-era songs for the first 15 mins or so, then Rollins came out to play the rest.

chadreligion (January 28, 2013)

It was one thing with the FLAG show for punk rock bowling and probably would have just worked much better as a one-off show, but what's with all these scattered dates and now "Black Flag" ... Too many people pulling this catalog of old songs into too many fucking different directions... The same songs by two different groups of people. STUPID. It's almost like if there were two Guns and Roses and slash, duff, and thee other guys had one camp and Axl fronting the other.. One called Guns and Roses and the other called GnR. I had respect for this at first and now it's all washing away. On top of that, I thought the Descendents were "way too busy with families and stuff" too not be making new music? This couldn't possibly take up too much of their time...

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

FLAG is only playing like three dates as Flag. How is that taking up their time away from family?

chadreligion (January 28, 2013)

Eggs actly

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

In somewhat better old punk news, Devo is now playing Punk Rock Bowling.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Sweet! Is it 1980? No? Then who cares? Just stay home and watch 'Doctor Detroit' instead.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Sorry Dream Theater and Zappa Plays Zappa isn't playing.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Firstly, it's not effective to make fun of my musical taste by picking two completely random bands I've never even mentioned on the site before. What, my essay-length praises of U2 and Phil Collins or my overly analytical Cherry Poppin' Daddies reviews aren't enough material to work with? Seriously, why can't anybody get that right? Weird.

Secondly, DEVO is for kids who can't afford Pere Ubu albums. Although, I must admit, I'm partially curious as to whether they'll play a whole pre-1980s set or if they'll just go for the green and play 'Whip It' sixteen times in a row. Their rampantly hypocritical commercialism suggests the latter.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FYTc55nGEI

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Devo promoted a $40 t-shirt through the conservative-owned Urban Outfitters the same week they released that "Roof Rack" song openly slamming Mitt Romney. Justify that if you will, but as someone who has a semblance of scruples, I just can't get behind it. I guess we have different sets of principles.

seth_uber_alles (January 28, 2013)

Don't mention anything Zappa-related in the same breath as (barf) Dream Theater.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Nick doesn't know the difference. He thought "In the Hall of the Mountain King" was written about Daryl Hall. True story.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Edvard Grieg and Daryl Hall. Yeah. Totally easy to get those mixed up.

Grieg and Oates.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Written ABOUT, not BY! Daryl was humble as shit, and you're just plain s***. >:[

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

Oh, and by the way, way to go having to look up Wikipedia to find out who wrote that piece:
http://stats.grok.se/en/latest/In%20the%20Hall%20of%20the %20Mountain%20King

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Yeah because it has nothing to do with me having to learn how to conduct in my conducting class I took three years ago.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

"In the Hall of the Mountain King has been viewed 19117 times in the last 30 days." How many of those were your own? 10? 20? Spread out over the course of three years, I bet not even numbers could count that. Or maybe it's 7034: http://stats.grok.se/en/latest/Weisswurst

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Skibz666 (January 28, 2013)

By the way, we're still submitting stuff there. Fuck people that use Google to find out about Romantic composers to show us up! >:(

laserguidedbygod (January 28, 2013)

No, it's one guy. His first name was Griegand.

davebrave4 (January 29, 2013)

Yes. Thank you.

eazyd2 (January 28, 2013)

yeah seriously devo? who gives a fuck?

are you going to prb dr dickhead?

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

Dickman is going.

eazyd2 (January 28, 2013)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FYTc55nGEI

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

You're not buddies with him anymore?

ExtraCheesePizza (January 28, 2013)

I must go.

eazyd2 (January 28, 2013)

do it

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

In all honesty, I'm thinking about making it out to Punked Rocks Bowling this year. Hope to see you there, PMS_DrNock.

seth_uber_alles (January 28, 2013)

I have many thoughts on these two reunions, pretty much all negative. Not to get on a punk high horse or anything, but Black Flag (and punk bands in general) were about destroying everything that came before and moving forward, so it's pretty depressing that they insist on rolling out the old tunes to fulfill nostalgia or whatever. A band like Kid Dynamite reuniting for a one-off show here and there is one thing, but I have zero interest in New Black Flag music in 2013. Off! rules and I don't know why Keith wouldn't just stick to that. It would be fine if various members busted out a Flag song or two live with their current respective projects. I also don't understand Stephen Egerton's involvement in FLAG, he's cool and all, but he wasn't in Black Flag, he wasn't even in the best line up of the Descendents!

bastard_squad (January 28, 2013)

Morris the other dudes know they are doing a nostalgia show. Hence 'Flag'. Not trying to trick anyone. He is an iconic frontman with a hell of a backing band to pull this off. It's no trick.
Your dig at Egerton and his time with the Descendents is unfair. It's a Descendent through and through. As much as Milo or Bill.

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

This. Alsom Egerton is the best Descendents guitarist they had. Shit. That line up of Milo, Egerton, Alveraz, and Stevenson is the best one, IMO.

seth_uber_alles (January 28, 2013)

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'll back Morris over Ginn any day. My Descendents comment was a bit of a joke. I realize he's long-running in the band, but MGTC is my favorite. I think they range from hit or miss to uninspired after that, personally.

seth_uber_alles (January 28, 2013)

I should also note that Egerton IS a beast and his guitar sound is very close to Ginn's early sound.

givemeamuseumandillfillit (January 28, 2013)

I'm seeing both, so I'll just go with zero expectations. If they're awful, I'll go watch another band.

It really doesn't have to be more complicated than that.

droneclone (January 28, 2013)

Who?

MN_DrNick (January 28, 2013)

They have a poster on the background of this site.

droneclone (January 28, 2013)

Never heard of 'em.

Skibz777 (January 28, 2013)

They're kind of like The Black Dahlia Murder, but with more slap bass.

droneclone (January 28, 2013)

Sweet.

seth_uber_alles (January 28, 2013)

They're the heterosexual parody of Black Fag.

droneclone (January 28, 2013)

Aoty.

wewerepromiseddirttaqs (January 28, 2013)

You guys are assholes. While I would plant my flag in FLAG's camp over the other, I can't contain my joy that this is happening. This is Black Flag. You've never gotten to see them live before. It's cool. Just accept that cool things are cool and stop making it more complex than it has to be. Im sick of all of your collective shit.

bastard_squad (January 28, 2013)

It's happened before and it was horrible. This isn't new. There are reviews of it on this very site.

As much as you want this to be the second coming, it's barely reheated leftovers.

lookingforcorpses (January 29, 2013)

This isn't Black Flag, at all. It's fucking pathetic. Old, sad, pathetic men trying to grab back on.

rsplatpc (January 28, 2013)

Well this leaves Minor Threat with the renaming no-reunion even though it's still possible integrity

rsplatpc (January 28, 2013)

remaining not renaming

bastard_squad (January 28, 2013)

It should never ever ever happen.

Fugazi, yes. Minor Threat? Never ever ever. It would be disengenuinous.

droneclone (January 28, 2013)

I agree with all of this.

BarleyPat (January 29, 2013)

Ditto. Would love to see Fugazi start it back up, Minor Threat would just be wrong.

rabbit (January 29, 2013)

definitely agree on the minor threat point. but i'd be lying if i said i wouldn't do my best to get out and see them anyway. shit, it couldn't be as bad as modern bad brains.

davebrave4 (January 29, 2013)

I knew I'd be in the minority here (pun totally intended), but I think Ian MacKaye is one of the few people who could pull off a reunion of a thirty-year-old punk band and still retain its integrity.

StraightEdgeHardCore (January 29, 2013)

I think so too. Let's send letters to Ian regarding our concerns.

davebrave4 (January 29, 2013)

Ooh, a letter-writing campaign! I feel so Parks & Rec-y!

StraightEdgeHardCore (January 29, 2013)

Yes!! Oh so, how should we start off this letter? "Dear, Mr. Ian Mackaye. You should reform Minor Threat 'cause we think that..."?

davebrave4 (January 29, 2013)

...without your presence in the punk scene, the phrase "straight edge" has been relegated to a basis from which lame usernames are taken!

Lol just kidding.

StraightEdgeHardCore (January 29, 2013)

Hahahaha, that was pretty funny though.

david5345 (January 28, 2013)

I only support this if Ginn uses the money to pay all the SST musicians he's conned.

david5345 (January 28, 2013)

I only support this if Ginn uses the money to pay all the SST musicians he's conned.

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

Reyes is a born again jesus lover and Ginn hasn't played punk rock in years. Morris and his band have all been in the game from the start and remain relevant It's a no brainer. FLAG!!!

Skibz777 (January 29, 2013)

What I'm reading is "Reyes has personal beliefs in no way relating to his musical abilities and Greg Ginn has been regularly performing in many eclectic projects while Morris has been constantly pumping out the same-sounding music to hyperbolic critical praise. FLAG!!!"

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

his personal beliefs is what music is all about. if you want christians rocking out listen to MXPX. Noodaling around in jazzy bands doesn't mean you can rock. Jerry Sienfeld said once you stop doing stand up you can't go back and be funny. Same thing with rock. you either do it or you don't.

Skibz777 (January 29, 2013)

Alice Cooper, Nicko McBrain, Tom Araya...too bad those guys only play soft Jesus music. And I guess you're right about needing to stay in punk in order to rock; after all, we've never seen any punk frontmen around this site engage in, like, acoustic projects. Perish the thought.

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

all found christ after they rocked none of them are punk. a drummer for a metal band? your reaching. don't get your point with frontmen playing acoustic? are they rocking? The point is some dude who sang briefly for a punk band when he was young and now is old and found christ is not going to be relevant he will be acting. and Ginn will be doing the same. Meanwhile Morris and his crew have always played in punk bands and have the best shot at making the band rock. PS CHRISTIANS DONT ROCK

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

I'm not say christians play soft music just shitty music

Skibz777 (January 29, 2013)

This fascinates me. So, is Christianity a biological component which affects rhythm and coordination? Is this a condition present at birth, or does it develop once they start practicing their religion? What about lapsed Christians, do they suddenly start making objectively good music? And likewise, do born-agains suddenly lose all musical skill? And does this include Catholics and Eastern Orthodox, or is it only Protestant? And what about other religions? Aren't there a bunch of Krishnas in punk? And what about bands with only one Christian member, like Maiden or Slayer? Do they all suck by mere association? Does this theory extend to other mediums of entertainment, like "Christian actors only star in shitty movies" or "Christian athletes lose every game"? I have so many questions.

Skibz777 (January 29, 2013)

You never specified punk, only Christians "rocking out". And if you so readily dismiss Iron Maiden from a list of rock bands, then I'm not quite sure you quite understand the concept of "rocking" yourself, if that wasn't blatantly obvious by the fact that you use the phrase in practically every other sentence.

The point really is that you're inexplicably biased against Ginn yet have no credible reason for being so, so you've ended up turning this into an irrelevant argument about religion. The idea of people losing the ability to "rock" from spending time in non-punk projects is absurd; it'd be one thing if he'd spent the last 20 years NOT playing any music at all, but remaining consistently active in music is not something that speaks ill of his capabilities. In fact, the lack of regular activity is the only concern I'd have over Reyes' performance; to blame that on personal belief is just...retarded. In your world, does musical ability also depend on voting preference? Choice of Pepsi or Coke? Just trying to figure out the rationale here.

Jeez, no wonder Inspector Gadget had such an easy time defeating you every week.

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

you need a certain attitude to play rock especially punk rock not sports or acting, rock, it's not possible to be a born again christian and rock. U2 might be your best answer? But in general sorry your beliefs are important. don't care about pepsi or coke but not many rockin' (i said it again) Republicans out there. if your christian good for you, not very punk, Bruce Dickerson is no christian. it's not irrelevant to call out phony punks who worship bullshit. it's not musical ability, they have talent, that don't mean they rock. NAME 2 CHRISTIAN PUNK BANDS that you like. Just two. you can't, thats because there are none. You shouldn't say retarded. Asshole, ignorant, something like that would make you sound not like a dick.

Skibz777 (January 29, 2013)

You're the one spewing hateful anti-Christian rhetoric and I'M the dick? Dick or not, at least I'm not ignorant enough to completely gloss over the fact that there's a notable Christian punk scene: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_punk

I may not be a Christian myself, but I still feel justified in saying: Fuck you, and fuck your bigoted ignorance. People like you are exactly what is wrong with the punk scene today.

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

yea my point exactly ALL of those bands in the "notable christian punk scene"suck really really bad. Do you like any of them? no. good for you. Do they suck because they'er christian? or do they just happen to suck? Theres a notable morman scene also they suck as well. So OK fuck you too. Are people supposed to love christian rock in the scene today? thats exactly whats wrong with it? and there are still NO christan bands that rock, it's an oxymoron. oh i,ve been punk for 30 years so i'm not the scene today.

skibz777 (January 29, 2013)

You never said ANYTHING about quality, only to NAME two Christian punk bands, and I gave you over a dozen. Now you're just trying to back yourself out of a corner.

skibz777 (January 29, 2013)

Provided, you did say to name two I liked, not that it'd make a difference: if I said I did like them, you'd just say my taste sucks, because I'm sure you've listened to ALL of those bands to with such certainty that they suck. Otherwise, you'd just be a judgmental schmuck, wouldn't you?

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

Nice you can speak in theory and not name a band you like. thats because there are none, No i haven't listened to ALL of those band but just enough to form an opinion, that scene sucks. more than that born again christians in punk band suck. In rock Bob Dylan, U2, come to mind (i'm trying to help you) there may be a few more that get away with it, but no punks. In closing "suck it" wait and see how great the Ginn Flag band will be then get back to me and admit I'm right.

skibz777 (January 29, 2013)

The real frightening thing here is that you're allegedly older than 14. :/

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

48 and i.m still right. not talking about how fast or hard they play just good. sit;; waiting for the name of the band you like or you want to call me more names. "your old, fuck you, your retarded ' yea i know. whats the name of the good christian rock band? thank you. i win.

Amoeba (January 29, 2013)

If I learned one thing over the years is that bands that are not openly atheists ( i.e Alternative tentacles bands, Nausea, Nofx or black metal bands...) are most likely to be christians, or at least have religious belief system.. They're not just openly talking about it.

This is not all the time the case, but it's extremely common.

DrClaw (January 29, 2013)

Reyes is openly born again christian. why do I need to know that? I don't. a religious belief system is one thing whatever who cares, but who is born again christian? and rocks. name two bands. I havent learned that if your not atheist your christian. i call bullshit.

wewerepromiseddirttaqs (January 29, 2013)

Also they're playing in Cookeville, TN.

I hear that fest is pretty fun, if you can get over all of the old folk punkers. If anyone goes, check out Cutthroat Shamrock and Stuck Lucky if you haven't already. They're Both two very underrated Tennessee native bands who constantly tour, and put on excellent shows. I feel like the energy they have during shows doesn't really translate into a recorded medium.

#TeamMorris

Even then, this is the worst game of capture the flag I've ever seen.

skolarx (January 29, 2013)

I'd rather see Black Fag than either of these "reunions"

ZachLeg (January 30, 2013)

I'm not upset I'm missing this, I'm bummed this is happening
