The first time I heard of the Smiths was when Kate Hiltz compared Bryan Kienlen to "The Boy With the Thorn in His Side" on the Bouncing Souls documentary Do You Remember?: 15 Years of The Bouncing Souls. Dec. 22 marks the ninth anniversary of Joe Strummer's passing, so I wrote up a piece on his work for the Straight to Hell soundtrack. One of my goals as editor is to fill the archive with everything Strummer ever wrote. Punk rock has shot off in a ton of different directions since '77, but Joe's music still holds sway. In other news, I'm running a review of Justin Bieber today. Stay tuned for the Org's best albums of 2011!
